US stocks moved mixed last Friday (24th). Concerns over massive artificial intelligence spending triggered a sell-off in chip stocks, with the Nasdaq falling 0.64%, while the DJIA and S&P 500 rose 0.46% and less than 0.1% respectively. Investors monitored developments in Iran and awaited interest rate decisions from the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan this week. The HSI opened 30 pts higher this morning (27th) before extending gains, closing at 25,207, up 243 pts or 0.98%, with full-day turnover at HKD210.5 billion. The HSCEI closed at 8,365, up 94 pts or 1.14%. The HSTECH closed at 4,702, up 72 pts or 1.57%.

Singapore stocks rise on Monday; STI up 0.6%



The worst performer among STI constituents was Thai Beverage : Y92 -1.1%, which fell 1.1 per cent or S$0.005 to S$0.45.

The three local banks ended higher. DBS : D05 +0.6% gained 0.6 per cent or S$0.44 to end at S$74.38, OCBC : O39 +0.69% rose 0.7 per cent or S$0.20 to S$29.29, and UOB : U11 +0.42% was up 0.4 per cent or S$0.18 at S$43.50.

Across the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 324 to 223, after 1.4 billion securities worth S$1.9 billion changed hands.

Addvalue Tech : A31 +2.65% was the most actively traded stock, with 91.9 million shares changing hands.

DBS was the most actively traded stock in terms of value, with a volume of 3.3 million shares worth S$241.9 million.

Key regional indices were positive. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained 1 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.5 per cent, South Korea’s Kospi was up 1 per cent and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI advanced 0.7 per cent...
