It’s been a brutal two days for AI stocks.
What happened in China this week
1. The Caixin BBD New Economy Index climbed to 34.1 in June. In plain terms, new economy industries now make up 34.1% of China's total economic inputs.
2. UBTech jumped 18% in a single day after launching its UWORLD U1 series, humanoid robots so lifelike they're now being sold to consumers at scale.
3. Meituan's AI agent recommends and books for users directly inside its super app. It's also charging outside companies for access to its LongCat 2.0 model.
4. China biotech stocks surged this week. 3SBio is up over 19%, Innovent is up nearly 15%, and CSPC is up almost 17%. A policy shift is coming, and CSPC just landed another AstraZeneca deal.
5. Momenta, one of China's top autonomous driving software makers, just had its IPO oversubscribed 414 times.
