Welcome back to My Trading Game Plan. Action-packed morning already. It started yesterday with a much more hawkish Kevin Warsh than the markets expected — more Fed governors voting for hikes this year than anticipated — and the market sold off sharply, the Nasdaq down 1.5-2% and the S&P down about 1.5%. Then came the kicker: the US-Iran deal signing, originally slated for Friday, got bumped up to after hours last night. Oil came down, and today the markets are lifting and erasing the entire Fed-driven drop.
Gareth breaks down the playbook of distraction: the early Iran signing, an officially announced Apple-Intel deal (the same news the rumor mill ran twice already), and AI chip stocks ripping. It's a masterclass in how the tape is being steered from the negative to the positive — and the one chart that tells Gareth when the bubble finally cracks.
📌 What's covered today:
🔵 S&P 500 (ES futures) — Erased the entire Fed-decision drop. Gareth wanted a third down day to solidify a lower high; instead he's watching how today closes (triple witching, last trading day of the week)
🟢 INTC (Intel) — Gapping up on the official Apple deal, the third time this rumor has lifted the stock. Watching the 136 level on the logarithmic chart, currently below 131
🔵 AAPL (Apple) — Quiet; the deal matters far more for Intel as the AI chip player than for a 4.5T safe-haven name
🔵 10-Year Yield — Pulling back again as oil falls
🟢 Oil (WTI) — Around 74 into a major gap fill after the early Iran deal signing
🟢 STX (Seagate) & WDC (Western Digital) — Both at new all-time highs
🟢 MU (Micron) — Near all-time highs just under 1,100; watching a trendline around 1,125
🔴 IBM — Down sharply pre-market; software and data-center weakness
🟢 MSFT (Microsoft) — Bouncing off the lows with heavy technical support lower near 373; a contrarian software bounce candidate
🔵 IGV (software ETF) — Sitting at support; software the clear laggard versus semis
🟢 CAT (Caterpillar) — Trading like an AI name on the data-center buildout; a swing level just above 1,000
🟢 NFLX (Netflix) — Potential double bottom around 75
🟢 BABA (Alibaba) — Gap-fill double bottom near 104 (trading 106.65), RSI near 20 (extreme oversold); on the swing-long radar
🔴 Gold — Flattish; Gareth is short from about a day and a half ago, watching a new wedge pattern
🔴 Silver — Down again, diverging from risk assets, with dollar strength a factor
🔵 US Dollar — Rallying into major resistance
🔵 Natural Gas — Nothing of intrigue yet
🟢🔴 BTC (Bitcoin) — Flat; must hold the 63,500-63,700 support on a daily closing basis to keep the bullish bias intact
The question Gareth keeps coming back to: as the bubble expands, when does it collapse? That's why the S&P's higher-high-versus-lower-high decision is the chart to watch.

Wall St indexes advance with boost from chips, Iran optimism
June 18 (Reuters) - U.S. stock indexes rallied on Thursday, with the Nasdaq's 1.9% advance boosted by gains in semiconductor shares, while inflation fears eased after the U.S. and Iran signed a peace agreement, although investors still priced in interest rate hikes this year from the Federal Reserve.
The Philadelphia semiconductor index (.SOX), opens new tab sharply outperformed the rest of the market with a 6.4% rally as Intel's (INTC.O), opens new tab shares jumped to a record high and finished up 10.6%. Early in the session, oil prices had slid to their lowest levels since early March after the U.S. and Iran signed an interim agreement that extends the April ceasefire by another 60 days to allow the sides time to reach a final deal. Inflation has been a huge worry for investors as oil prices had soared since the war began in late February.
Although Trump threatened to resume attacks if Iran failed to honor its commitments, the first ships started sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, where transportation of oil, gas, fertilizer and other cargoes had been disrupted since the start of the war.
