Stock market today: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq cap winning month with fresh records in AI-fueled rally as Trump nears Iran decision

Live updates

US stocks rose to record highs to cap a banner month as President Trump said he would soon make a decision on a deal with Iran, while Dell's (DELL) earnings report sparked the latest rally in the booming AI trade.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) gained 0.7%, or over 350 points, closing above the 50,000 level for the first time. The benchmark S&P 500 (^GSPC) and tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) each added around 0.2%, as the major indexes closed out another winning week amid burgeoning confidence in the AI trade and hopes of easing global tensions.

The S&P 500 notched its ninth week of gains, in its longest winning run since 2023.

What happened in China this week:

1. Futu posted 25% revenue growth in Q1 2026, but profits tanked 61.2%. The culprit was a one-off fine for illegal cross-border trading, not the business itself, which is still firing on all cylinders.

2. PDD grew revenue 11% while profit fell 15%, and the stock slid 9%. Its cash pile now sits at half its entire market cap.

3. Kuaishou's core video business is growing at a snail's pace, but it's still profitable enough to bankroll its Kling AI ambitions. Kling's revenue quadrupled year-on-year.

4. MiniMax 5x'd its client base and now wants to 6x its recurring revenue to US$1 billion by the end of 2026.

5. China's #1 electronic brake maker and #1 fruit snack maker are both knocking on Hong Kong's door for an IPO.
