"Second Wave" or Winter Resurgence? My thoughts expressed mid-August 2020
A lot of vitriol recently from a propaganda campaign against people who question lockdown effectiveness. Very telling that most of the vitriol is aimed at any guesstimates/"predictions" made back in Summer/Autumn -so I threw this compilation together from…

China tests for coronavirus by anal swab
Chinese authorities are now taking corona tests by anal swab. This method could "increase the detection rate in infected individuals" because the virus is detectable longer in the anus than in the respiratory tract, a senior physician in Beijing.
Chinese authorities are now taking corona tests by anal swab. This method could "increase the detection rate in infected individuals" because the virus is detectable longer in the anus than in the respiratory tract, Li Tongzeng, a senior physician at You "an Hospital in Beijing, told state broadcaster CCTV. However, according to the broadcaster, testing continues largely by throat and nasal swab because the anal method is not very "convenient."
According to the report, the anal swab is mainly used for people who are at high risk of coronavirus infection. Last week, this was the case for residents of several Beijing neighborhoods with confirmed corona infections, according to CCTV. Citizens in quarantine were also tested in this way, according to the report.
In recent weeks, several cities in northern China have been sealed off and mass testing has been conducted because of isolated small outbreaks. Because of the rising numbers of infections worldwide, China has also tightened its entry rules. All travelers must present multiple negative test results upon arrival and be quarantined for at least 14 days.
Internet users reacted to the new testing procedure with black humor. "I took two anal swabs, each time I had to take a throat swab afterwards - I was so afraid the nurse would forget to use a new stick," one user joked on the Weibo platform.
