👩‍🏭 👨‍🏭 “Model factories” improve productivity in Turkey. SMEs in Turkey have benefited from productivity gains of up to 100 percent thanks to training and advisory services received from “model factories” that UNDP has established in major Turkish cities in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
📈 Learn & Transform Programmes implemented in Kayseri, Konya and Ankara Model Factories boost manufacturing SMEs’ productivity and competitiveness.
🌦 We have left behind the month of August during which we felt the impacts of climate change intensely. Climate change adaptation strategy and action plans are prepared for disaster-hit Samsun and Muğla.
🏙 UNDP Turkey held a workshop with broad participation in Ankara as part of its work for the development and implementation of local service delivery standards for the first time in Turkey under its Local Administration Reform Phase III Project.
🍎 Ceyda Alpay, Head of Experimentation of our Accelerator Lab, wrote on their urban farming experiment which started with research on food security and evolved into an urban garden project.
🚴🌱 Towards sustainable urban farming and improved food security, we support composting initiatives. Gülşah Eker, Head of Solutions Mapping of our Accelerator Lab wrote about the “Pedal for Soil” project which is a success story of using organic waste to feed the soil and provide food to those in need.
🌿 The agricultural biodiversity of the Mount Ida and Edremit Gulf region will be protected by creating a prosumer economy, with the support of SGP Turkey. You may check out the products and producers on the North Aegean Market.

UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-2025 aiming to bring the Global Goals back within reach in the next four years, has been announced.
Turkey was shaken in August with the news of mucilage in the Sea of Marmara. Though, this is not a new nor an unpredicted problem. It is only one of the symptoms occurred as a result of the practices that have been implemented since 1989.

In 1971, exactly 50 years ago, DAMOC report presented by UNDP and WHO offered comprehensive solutions to the problems of urban wastewater management of Istanbul.

In a period when mucilage is the indicator of the Sea of Marmara dying before our eyes, we spoke with Hydrobiologist Levent Artüz who has been leading the research of Marmara Environmental Monitoring Project (MAREM) since 1993, on the mucilage problem and the DAMOC report.

📣 According to the G20 Peoples' Climate Vote 2021 survey by UNDP and the University of Oxford, 73 percent of young people in Turkey know this is a climate emergency. 64 percent want to conserve forests and land, 64 percent want more solar, wind and renewable power, and 62 percent want climate-friendly farming.
👪 The 2021 Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) reveals stark inequalities among ethnic groups. UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner said in his statement for 17 October International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, that in 2020 alone, up to 100 million people were pushed into poverty because of COVID-19.
