In Trump's speech last night he stated he wanted to have a lifetime ban on former members of congress from lobbying.

Turley has one thing wrong - he stated that banning lobbyists is unconstitutional. He quotes the First Amendment: "...or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” But what he misses is two key words here: "the people".

I think paid lobbying and corporations/organizations that lobby are not "the people" petitioning their government. Not only should former lawmakers be banned, anyone paid to lobby should be banned and it should be illegal to fund lobbying (and to pay/fund protests too)
