My daughter voted today for the first time in her life.

I could not hold back my tears as I was casting my vote today. A feeling my fellow Americans might not necessarily know since you were born into democracy and that’s all you have ever known. Today I voted for the first time in my entire life. It was such a foreign feeling, so many mixed emotions. Today this amazing country gave me the privilege to make my voice count. Today I voted for democracy, freedom, capitalism and less government. Freedom of speech. Freedom of religion. Freedom to carry. I voted pro-life, pro-family, pro traditional values, pro police and order.

For 21 years I lived in a country where my parents had to take me to another state when I was 1 year old to get baptized because of their fear to be fired from work if anyone in my hometown saw them going into church.
I lived in a country where I could not express my thoughts and opinions about absolutely anything related to politics for fear of being incarcerated. This fear is so impregnated in us that still today my mom and I find ourselves speaking quietly when we’re talking about the Cuban government because of the indoctrination we were subject to growing up. I lived in a country where no one was allowed to carry and where the government was fully in control of every single citizen (look at what happened on July 11, 2021). I lived in a country where the police did not represent nor defend its citizens. I lived in a country where the citizens have currently no power as you read, let alone basic commodities.

Feeling an overwhelming thankfulness today. Thank you Jesus.

Praying we don’t go down that path and that Americans wake up! 🙏🏻
