🗣 Noland Arbaugh:

No tech in the world matches Neuralink.

Before my BCI, video games weren’t even possible. The first day I used Eve to play Civ, I played for nine hours straight. Now I use Eve for school, emails to clients…
and to write this post. 🤖

🗣 Noland Arbaugh:

Yes, my brain chip updates similarly to a Tesla.

There are three ways my Neuralink setup gets updates:

1. The app

Neuralink built a custom app called Telepathy that runs on my phone and computer. It’s the interface I use to control devices with my mind—and it gets regular software updates.

2. The implant firmware (OTA updates)

The chip in my brain runs firmware that can be updated wirelessly—no surgery required. Just like a Tesla update, these over-the-air upgrades improve speed, accuracy, signal processing, and reliability.

This is exactly how early issues with my implant were fixed.
The Neuralink team pushed a software update, and it solved the problem.

3. The implant itself

I’m on the first-gen N1 implant. Newer versions already exist and are significantly more advanced. It is possible to go back into surgery and replace the implant with a newer version.

And yes—if I ever get the chance to upgrade my chip (or run a dual-implant setup someday)…

I’m TOTALLY in. 🦾

NEURALINK: On February 6th, Neuralink filed for an $8.2 million tenant improvement project at the Del Valle, Texas, facility.

The work converts 37,607 square feet of existing shell space on the third floor of the ATX1 building into office and small-scale manufacturing areas.

The privately funded renovation, registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as TABS2026011928 under project name "ATX1 - Third Floor Tenant Improvement".

This follows prior 2024 investments of about $15.7 million for campus development, including a $14.7 million three-story building and $1 million fit-out.

Co-founder DJ Seo told us they were designing their own medical center alongside a high-volume device production facility in Texas.

Construction starts March 2nd and ends May 25th.

"One of the first times y'all gave me complete control over this, I actually stayed up until, geez, I don't know, 6 A.M. playing Civilization VI.

It was worth it... It was awesome. I had basically given up on playing that game because... it's a big game.

Y'all gave me the ability to do that again, and I played it for 8 hours that day."

Neuralink implanted devices in 3 patients in 2024, and 17 patients in 2025.

They are extremely focused on scaling up:

"Looking forward, the path is clear: to build a brain interface that restores independence at scale, we depend on the pioneers willing to lead.

For that reason, we thank the Neuralnauts for the progress we made so far and for the progress still to come in 2026."

Neuralink's Implant Team Lead, Julian, shows how the team tests their brain implants (and how brain data gets processed).

These implants read brain signals to help ~20 people control their computers.

Recently, the team started the VOICE trial, which is giving a voice to those who are unable to speak.

Neuralink's Microfabrication R&D Lead, Lesley explains how the team is building fake brain proxies to test the implants.

This reduces reliance on testing in animals and humans.

I expect Neuralink to build fake brains in the future- they can use brain data from their fleet of deployed implants to train a digital, artifical brain.

Will AI be able to do this without the access to brain data that Neuralink has?

🗣 Bradford G Smith:

This is Chase.

He operates robots for Neuralink. He did the robot for my Neuralink implantation surgery.

He had a first date that he had to postpone because of my surgery. She thought he was a flake. He couldn’t tell her about the surgery because it was a secret.

They went on a date the next day.

They are still together. If they get married, I think I deserve a lot of credit!

He now mixes up their anniversary and my surgery!

Maybe he is a flake after all.

People at Neuralink are awesome!

This short video clip about Neuralink's electrode probes is from November 2022.

Now, Neuralink has made much more progress on inserting these probes through the dura mater brain layer.

This advancement reduces risk of infection and complications.

NEURALINK: Erika Ross Ellison is Neuralink's new Head of Clinical. She was hired this past February.

Per Erika, "I spent my first few weeks at Neuralink on a whirlwind tour with our world-class neurosurgery and research teams leading the US PRIME study, along with the study participants who make this work possible. Seeing the work up close has been energizing as we prepare for the next phase together.

Grateful to join such a brilliant, mission-obsessed team pushing Neuralink technologies forward for the SCI and ALS communities. Excited to be here at such an important moment.

Let’s go!"

This is the status of Neuralink's human trials:

Active trial: Help quadriplegics control devices with their minds.

Active trial: Help those who cannot speak communicate their thoughts.

Upcoming trial: Help the blind see.

Neuralink is upgradeable.

You can take out the device and put in a new device. They've proved this works in monkeys!

🗣 Jon L. Noble:

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 100 days since I received my Neuralink N1 implant. Looking back, the whole journey feels like science fiction that somehow became my everyday reality.

The surgery on Day 0 was surprisingly easy. A quick general anaesthetic, a small incision, and the robotic system did the rest — precisely placing the 1,024 ultra-thin threads into my motor cortex. I woke up alert and in good spirits and went home the next afternoon. By Day 3 I was feeling a lot better, and by Day 7 the little scar was already starting to fade. Recovery was genuinely minimal; I felt sharper and more positive than I had been in years after the BCI was turned on.

The real fun started in Week 2 when we paired the implant with my brand-new Apple MacBook (my very first Mac). The Neuralink engineers walked me through calibration sessions, and within a couple of minutes I was moving the cursor just by thinking. At first it felt like trying to remember a dream, but by Week 3 it was second nature. Scrolling, clicking, typing — all mind-controlled. The Mac integration was buttery smooth; I went from total Mac newbie to power-user faster than I ever expected.
