Elon Musk has made it clear that he would ban Apple devices from his companies if Apple integrates OpenAI’s AI software into their operating system.

This came just hours after Apple unveiled its new AI feature called “Apple Intelligence,” which includes integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into iPhones, allowing users to write iMessages or get other AI-generated responses through Siri.

Musk voiced his concerns on X. He stated that such integration would be an unacceptable security violation.

The technology will be focused on improving the lives of people suffering from brain diseases and disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Although the end aim is more transhumanist, the company aims to improve the cognitive performance of humankind through machinery integration.

The operation of inserting the chip will somewhat resemble the Lasik eye surgery. The procedure will be partially handled by a neurosurgeon robot, the research paper details “Each thread can be individually inserted into the brain with micron precision for avoidance of surface vasculature and targeting specific brain regions. The electrode array is packaged into a small implantable device that contains custom chips for low-power on-board amplification and digitization”

While non-headphone headphones have been around for a while, this is the first attempt at bypassing the hearing apparatus for this purpose.
