Soldiers of the 1st Mountain Division (1.Gebirgs-Division) of the Wehrmacht participate in a joint May Day celebration with soldiers of the 9th Infantry Division "Pasubio" of the Italian Expeditionary Force in Russia (Corpo di spedizione italiano in Russia) in the occupied town of Chistyakovo, Stalino Oblast (now Torez, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine). SS-Gruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich at a Fencing Competition with the Berlin SS Fencing Team, 1936
The event was organized on the command of the Reichsführer-SS by the sport union of the SS. The list of the event shows 48 winners. A notable recipient in two categories was none other than Reinhard Heydrich, who took two awards and achieved a 5th place with a sword and a 3rd place with a sabre. The future 2nd in command of the SS performed well and was an avid fencer.
