The last talks were in June 2012. There have been 12 rounds since 1969, but no progress. India wants a seaward delimitation first, while Pakistan seeks a full resolution. Environmental issues arise, as Pakistan's LBOD pollutes the creek in violation of the #IndusWatersTreaty.
Pakistan is building new forward military bases at Rah-de-Pir, 2 km from the creek, including hardened bunkers, offshore patrol vessels, and marine assault boats. This military build-up is to provoke an Indian response after facing military defeat in India’s Operation Sindoor.
Sir Creek is not just a swampy area. It’s a challenge of determination, planning, and control. With energy resources, key trade routes, and national safety involved, this 96 km stretch could shape the next important phase in India-Pakistan relations.
