The modern Indian #SATA Gunner began in 1925 with “The Nine Originals” under Capt EB Culverwell at the #Kakul School of Artillery. By 1942, this nucleus became the 1st Indian Survey Regiment, marking a major milestone in the evolution of Indian gunners.
Only 3 Indians were first commissioned into Artillery from Woolwich: Prem Singh Gyani, PP Kumaramangalam & AS Kalha. They joined the A Field Brigade in 1935 at Bengaluru. Meanwhile, 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery (1827) lives on, celebrated as #GunnersDay.

India's future fighter fleet is coming together on an indigenous backbone. #Tejas Mk1A for near‑term, Tejas Mk2 for medium‑weight roles, #AMCA for 5th‑gen stealth, and #TEDBF will support the Navy. All these are networked, sensor-rich, and built to scale production in the 2030s.
#TejasMk1A is a light 4.5-gen upgrade featuring #AESA radar, a digital EW suite, #AstraBVR, and precision weapons. Large IAF orders plus parallel #HAL lines drive scale. Deliveries will continue until the late 2020s to quickly increase squadron numbers and lower lifecycle costs.
#TejasMk2 (MWF): Single F414, canards, bigger fuselage, ~6.5t payload, more fuel/range, integrated IRST/EW, and smart avionics. Intended to replace Mirage 2000, MiG‑29, and Jaguar. Flight tests mid‑decade; induction targeted late 2020s, early 2030s, with 6 IAF squadrons planned.
#AMCA (5th gen): Twin-engine stealth, internal bays, sensor fusion, IRST, improved EW, and supercruise goals. Power path: #F414 (#Mk1) moving to a 120-140 kN indigenous engine (#Mk2). Prototype late decade, service mid‑2030s. Roles: air dominance, deep strike, SEAD/DEAD.
#TEDBF (Navy): A twin-engine carrier fighter with canards, folding wings, strengthened gear & arrestor hook. Powered by #F414 engines, 7-ton payload, multi-role (air-to-air, anti-ship, EW). Designed for STOBAR, CATOBAR-ready. Replacing #MiG-29K by the late 2030s.

Squadrons: Sanctioned 42, now at the current low 30s after the MiG-21 retirement. The recovery plan includes #TejasMk1A, 6 Mk2 squadrons, MRFA/Rafale, and AMCA starting in the mid-2030s. The recovery speed will depend on production, funding consistency, and engine localisation.
