Great meet guys. Kindly share the minutes with @helpdeskupsc if you documented!
A conversation with my past self!
Ep4.Pre or Mains crossroads-
With the end of October peeking, the sounds of firecrackers become the backdrop.
But in the heart of an UPSC warrior, it's the explosion of questions, strategies, and the drive to push through.
This is a conversation with my past self, where we find a way around the issue.
P: Past self
N: Present self
N: Oct End brings Rangeela's Aamir inside of us, "क्या करें क्या ना करें, ये कैसी मुश्किल हाए। कोई तो बता दे इसका हल ओ मेरे भाई।"!
P: I couldn't clear Pre this time unfortunately.
Couldn't study at all.
N: I can understand, but if you think this year it was random, wait till you see what happens in 23 😁! And stop seeing this as a failure.
Life is much bigger than an examination. Plus don't throw around words like depression so casually. You haven't even begun to feel what it actually is like.
Also, you have wasted the last 4 months unnecessarily but what's done is done, I can't preach about a lost cause. Let's look forward now.
P: WTF! Why would I care for 23? I will clear next year you'll see. If only I got a chance to write Mains, I would have shown what productivity should look like.
N: Prepare to be surprised, young jedi! 😉 Guys like you think you were "Dealing with Depression" since you failed Pre.
On the other hand, ones writing Mains felt the brunt of "Anxiety and Adrenaline" to prepare for a never ending Mains syllabus.
Hopefully Sherlocking will take care of that anxiety to a certain level, but you understand the gist now. Both sets of players are struggling with their own respective battles. And productivity is often elusive for both.
P: Surprises are for lazy bums. I'm Akshay Kumar from Ajnabee, "Everything's Planned"! Anyway, how do I compensate for the lost time now?
जो Mains में appear हुए हैं, they already have the momentum on their side. Will I ever be able to catch up!?
N: Yeah, just how you planned your last Prelims and "Depression" in between, Mr. Masterplanner. Anyway, yes you will have adequate opportunity to catch up.
During October to December, most of the people who appeared in Mains are either Burnt out (थकावट के शिकार) or 'तेरा भाईs', Resting on their laurels, "तेरा भाई mains लिखकर आया हैं इस साल।💪". It's easy to overtake both sloth and vanity with consistency.
The problem lies in the attitude of people like you who failed Prelims that you're so low on confidence facing an identity crisis, that you don't even put up a brave fight. And time will tell you about the efficacy of Sherlocking, I decline to respond to your statement there.
चलो अब please make a timeline for me, as to how should I use the next few months. Because as you say, "There's No Mains without Pre"!
N: That's only half of my statement. I do say that "There's No Mains without Pre", but then I add, "But the route to getting into the desired service goes through a high score in Mains", because Interview is more volatile than the stock market on a bad day.
I know that दूध का जला छांछ भी फूंक फूंक कर पीता हैं, but overinvesting in Prelims is also a recipe for disaster in the longer run.
N: Patience, O Little One. Let's paint this canvas with a timeline that makes sense for your UPSC journey.

N: For those fresh-faced warriors diving in for the first time or maybe the second, but with a half-hearted first attempt: जब January आए, it shouldn't just signal a new year but herald the clarion call of 'Mission Prelims'! For them, there's absolutely no Mains without Prelims, and they have a lot of catching up to do.
Then comes the startegy for those returning warriors who have attempted the exam 2 or 3 times without success! For them, while lovebirds celebrate in February, our warriors should be drawing their swords for 'Mission Prelims' around the Valentine's mark.
Yet, wisdom says, tread softly. Dedicate just a fragment of their time from January to mid-February, possibly around 20%, for Prelims, slowly intensifying the pace.
N: Ah, our seasoned वीर! For one, they already know that content beyond a point is futile, it's about Sherlocking beyond that.
Overloading, as Sherlock would say, is elementary and not the best approach.
Starting with 'Mission Prelims' from January for them would be like using a cannon to kill a mosquito.
Come mid-March, switch gears. But before that? Mains is where the focus should be.
P: Got it! अब, let's talk Mains. The real battleground, isn’t it?
N: Absolutely! Mains is the marathon after the sprint.
Go end-to-end, make it your own in the next 3-4 months
Essay, think of it as an art. Four masterpieces by December's end to understand the canvas i.e. write 4 mock essays to gauge your current level. Dive deep, explore perspectives, and if you're lost, seek guidance.
For the keen-eyed Sherlockers among us: Consider the video lectures on Essay and GS123 as the ancient scrolls. Those will take care of Mains for now.
But even if you're not enrolled, make sure your journey is still enlightened. Know each syllabus topic like the back of your hand, dissect the PYQs, and see the patterns of the past three years.
It's about striking the right chord between Prelims and Mains, knowing your strengths, and being in sync with the rhythm of the exam. Thanks a lot for the time and insights.
N: I know, I know, "बेताल की तरह कंधे पर लटकने"! You're always welcome. Also, don't forget to help with the engagement on YouTube meanwhile if you like my work.
I'm sure you would love the content and production value. Leaving the links beneath, just in case!
🌝 But हाँ, I'll do the needful.

The Answer Writing Monthly Module kicks on tomorrow.
Some students were asking about the deadline to join.
Know that the program provides evaluation within November for upto 100questions. If you think you can make use of this opportunity even starting in Mid November, that’s down to your planning.
So no deadline to join per se!
But currently due to the limited availability of quality evaluators in the market, the last date to submit questions for evaluation would be the last day of November.
Here are the details:
https://t.me/Neil_You/755
Enrolled students are requested to ping @helpdeskupsc to get the evaluator’s ID tomorrow to get started!
Wishes.

SHERLOCKING MAINS MODULE🕵️♂️
The traditional UPSC ecosystem has led us to believe that more content means better chances.
But Memory is like Lord Parshuram’s curse to Karna. It lets you down when you most need it. So ‘More’ doesn’t always translate to ‘Better’!
I’ll help you bridge that gap with a novel never before seen pedagogy.
Don’t trust me? This is what the end game will look like:

Minutes from Session on Mental health:(Thanks A)
1. We all are social animal, isolation and productivity is myth.
2. Mental health is like a fractured bone you may be doing things, completing tasks but whenever a xray is done that fracture is visible.
3. Don't worry about what other people are achieving, life reveals itself as we keep doing what is needed, everyone's destiny is different.
4. No one knows who was India's first Cabinet secretary and no one cares, so just live and be happy.
5. What will people say after I'm dead, are you going to listen them?? just live happily and spread love, care that's all.
6. 7-8 hrs of study is all that is needed, deep focus can be of maximum 4 hrs.
7.Don't care about vicious relatives and neighbours.
8. Make your own community if possible using telegram, have friends.
9.One lottery after another is not the way out, try something else, not one competitive exam and then other.
10. Getting out of cycle is not bad neither should be frowned upon, 2-3 attempts is the most that one can keep himself/herself motivated, take a break and comeback.
11. Blinkist app for books, Satyamev Jayate episode.
