Optimising Reading for Maximum Outcome:

Just how we need "Minimum Government, Maximum Governance", in UPSC, नारा needs to be "Minimum Reading, Maximum Application"!

Let me call back my past self to address this:

P: Past self
N: Present self

Please throw some light.

N: So the solution is simple. After carefully analysing these questions, you can realise that a question on a particular theme is often context neutral.

You need to develop the knack of identifying the theme from which a question is being asked. For instance, pause and go have a look at the previous year questions that relate to "Pressure Groups"!

N: Okay, Einstein. There's a difference between just seeing and observing to analyse. If you closely look, you'll see that all those questions are just asking about features, characteristics, working of pressure groups, albeit in different wrappers.

N: One more interruption and you're out of the group. Listen carefully now.

I don't care for the context. They can be asking about "business groups", "farmer orgs" or any other subclassification of pressure groups,

THE POINTS WILL REMAIN THE SAME.

N: I don't like commenting on other's methodology, but let's just say, it's easy to suggest things that are "Effort Intensive" and then pin a negative outcome on the student's "Lack of hardwork"!

So once you identify and club those commonalities, then you have to create enough relevant fodder to address those questions.

I know what you want to say, please don't. Fodder for cattle is different from the fodder for these questions.(गाएं भैंस का चारा नही हैं यह।)

Now pause once again and see this fodder I created for myself for Pressure Groups, NGOs, SHGs and similar topics.

N: I revised this fodder so much so that it became a part of my muscle memory. I see a question on PG, CSOs, NGOs etc. and I retrofit WAGE SPAM, EPL, EMC etc. Those are 14 points right from the word go. Now the more I practice, the better you would become at fitting those points for contextualisation.

That's why I say, answer writing is an art, not a science( कला हैं विज्ञान नहीं।). The more you practice, the better you become.

N: Whatever sails your boat. Also I have a homework for you now. Watch those three recent videos on YT to see more Mains principles at play!

P: Homework 😭

N: In that case, better go watch lbsnaa shortzz, maybe you'll find actionable hacks there. In any case, that was it.

N: Young jedi, if you observe closely enough, the photo shared is the illustration I intended to share, clubbed with the videos I have uploaded on YT! Anyway, go through them and get back to me with follow-ups, if any!

N: I'll wait, बेताल to my विक्रम। ❤️

The frequency with which I’ve been posting since a couple days should be testament enough to the fact that slowly I’ve been able to process the events of the last couple of months.

It’s been a roller coaster of an year, which started off with a Rank93 in HCS, and culminated in two near misses by the half year mark.

Hopefully we’ll be over this phase in no time and will get back to life!

This encapsulates the recent disappointments for the time being.

I will also share my marksheets and actionable takeaways for you guys really soon!

NDMA guidelines are often asked in GS-3. This a general framework for it. You can fill the gaps as per the topic.

(I too had borrowed this idea from some topper, I can’t remember when and where though)

General frameworks automate most of our process and make translation of ideas easy. Use this as a blueprint to create your own frameworks for oft repeated themes!
