Perplexed, the student asks why it would take longer with more intense effort. The master explains that when one eye is fixed on the goal, there is only one eye left to guide the path, implying that excessive focus on the outcome can hinder the journey itself.

This parable emphasizes the importance of balance and mindfulness in practice. Overemphasis on achieving a goal can lead to tension and distraction, ultimately delaying progress. By maintaining a balanced approach and staying present in each moment, one can progress more naturally and effectively.
