This is one of those universal ‘mantras’ that works like a charm even in your UPSC prep. The way I see it,

Do what you can = Give your best with 7ish hrs of consistent studying 5.5 days a week;

With what you have = Basic Sources and PYQs

Where you are = Don’t have a victim’s mindset whether you’re in a rural hinterland, or whether you’ve been stuck in the preparation for long.

With the right direction and effort, whatever is yours will certainly find its way to you!

For IFoS Appearing Students:

Some people have been asking about time management and attempt order in English:

Start with grammar, easy pickings. 50 marks worth in 15-20mins

Then Letter, Report in 20ish mins

Comprehension in 15-20mins

Precis next in 40ish mins

Remaining 1hr is for Essay, start with brainstorming for 10-13 mins and write in remaining.

Even if execution is not perfect, don’t be worried. I messed time mgmt in Essay, yet scored the highest. Try to optimise

In GK, go with brute force. Start serially and write with relevance, fill all pages, use visual stimuli and believe. Use as much sherlocking as possible!

Course Update:

As always, Sherlocking Modules not only come with a 2yr validity, but also 2yr free updates, atleast for now.

A lot of our past students have been surprised when they realised that the new updates are included in the validity.

However, due to re-organisation and changing contracts with the app providers, the situation will change by the end of the year for new admissions by then. If you were contemplating to enrol, there will be no better to enrol than now!

Around the end of the year, prices will undergo an upward revision, we’ll have different pricing structures for different validities and so on. We’re sure you’ll take the best call for the preparation.

For any followup queries, feel free to reach out to us on @helpdeskupsc.

Being sick and tired of subpar and cess laden ‘Swiggy/Zomato’ food, I decided to finally take my Sunday breakfast in my own hands(quite literally) and it left me pleasantly surprised.

From someone who never entered their kitchen or could distinguish between unending spices, somehow was able to create this delicious Chola-Kulcha meal. Now of-course the state of my kitchen is a collateral damage, but that’s how we learn.

So if I could create a delicious meal like this, you’re much better placed to write well structured relevant answers with just the right guidance and determination.

Never KNeil down(Yeah, that’s a thing now) to the inertia, to useless overpriced apps or to Market Misinformation. Have a good Sunday ahead!

A good UPSC Prelims test series has been missing from the market. More often than not, rather than simulating the real exam, these mocks aim to create fear in students so that they can then panic buy exorbitantly priced or subpar modules.

To bridge this gap, I’ve been working on creating an end to end test series with a quality never before seen. Now this is not a hard commitment of releasing the series as the backend work is still pending. And I have a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that the series generated is of the highest quality, like the rest of our modules, otherwise better not release one.

I want to ensure that our Unlock IAS test series is utilised by majority of the aspirants and affordability shouldn’t be an issue. So I wanted a feedback on what cost do you think will enable you to utilise the series best. Also be reasonable because institutional expenses have to be taken care of and be wary of what others are charging in the market.

If we get a good repository of feedback, will pass on to the Pricing Team and they’ll take the final call before ratifying. Feel free to respond to this at @UPSCneil.

I would reiterate the query:

What should a reasonable pricing be, of the highest quality UPSC test series in the market, covering Prelims Prep testing end to end.

We often tend to replay the 3hrs of the examination hall and exaggerate ‘what might have gone wrong’!

Now is not the time for that, for ones who appeared in IFoS English and GK papers today. I’m sure the module would have tremendously helped you today and I would encourage you to provide a feedback once the exam ends.

But for now, UPSC has hired people to evaluate your performance, let them take care of their jobs. Don’t dwell on past, only exclusively focus on the task at hand i.e. the optionals.

Best wishes!

One of its kind PYQ Module which will help you understand the crux needed to clear the exam, i.e. Utilising basic sources in the right way to get to the right answer and be on the right side of the cutoff.

Don’t let Prelims be a veto on your dreams. Sherlocking Prelims Module will help you unlock your true potential.

Generic points on clean air and pollution. Note how they’re also using Sherlocking, with same keywords, frameworks applied in multiple realms eg. “just transition”.

Some specific pointers on the menace of plastic pollution.

Plus a screenshot reference from one of the top newspaper outlets to show that everyone makes grammar mistakes, even when they have a team. You’re allowed to make some too in the exam, unless it’s an Essay.

Celebrating 75 years of our democratic foundation.

As aspiring & future officers, all of you have a special responsibility to not only cram, but also understand the spirit. While most of our neighbours crumbled socially, economically & politically post independence, it was this edifice that provided stability and prosperity.

Hopefully state and the citizenry, aka “We the People”, will continue to uphold the document for years to come realise the dreams of the visionary constitution makers.

There could not have been a better start to this Morning.

Our own ‘BPSC Sherpa’, One of our OG Sherlockers has cleared BPSC, Shambhavee!

She was one of the first 5 students to join this group in Dec 2022 and I still remember evaluating one of her copies, back when I was running that initiative. Not only has she been a sincere student, she has also been an active community member, participating in community meets and often creating the minutes of the meet for others to learn as well, as could be evidenced with my acknowledgment with initials ‘S’/‘SK’!

Congratulations once again SK, and thanks for inspiring the entire community. I’m sure we’ll connect soon on a meet to address more aspirant queries. Haffun until then, savour this moment, very well earned.
