Statement Condemning Attacks on Healthcare Facilities and Hospitals in Iran
We strongly and unequivocally condemn the attacks, raids, and acts of violence against healthcare facilities and hospitals in Iran. Targeting places that serve as sanctuaries for the sick, the injured, and those in need of medical care constitutes a grave violation of fundamental human rights, medical ethics, and international humanitarian principles.
Hospitals, clinics, and healthcare centers must remain safe and neutral spaces under all circumstances. Any assault on these institutions—along with intimidation, harassment, or violence against patients, physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers—represents a direct attack on the right to life and health.
We emphasize that:
1. Healthcare facilities must be protected at all times, regardless of political or security conditions;
2. Any attack or interference with medical care is unacceptable and must be investigated, with perpetrators held accountable;
3. The international community, human rights organizations, and relevant global bodies must respond decisively and without delay to these violations;
4. Access to medical care is a fundamental human right and must never be used as a tool of repression, punishment, or intimidation.

انجمن پزشکان ایرانی–آمریکایی (Persian American Medical Association) با عمیقترین نگرانی و اندوه، کشتار اخیر شهروندان بیدفاع ایران و سرکوب خشونتبار اعتراضات مردمی توسط نیروهای حکومتی جمهوری اسلامی ایران را به شدیدترین شکل ممکن محکوم میکند.
گزارشهای موثق و تصاویر منتشرشده حاکی از استفادهٔ گسترده از خشونت مرگبار علیه غیرنظامیان، از جمله زنان، نوجوانان و کودکان است. این اقدامات با اصول بنیادین حقوق بشر، موازین اخلاق پزشکی، و تعهدات بینالمللی ایران در تضاد آشکار قرار دارد.

انجمن پزشکان ایرانی–آمریکایی (PAMA) با اندوهی عمیق و قلبی آکنده از درد، جانباختن شهروندان بیگناه ایران را تسلیت میگوید و همدردی صمیمانهٔ خود را با خانوادهها، بازماندگان، جامعهٔ پزشکی و مردم شریف ایران ابراز میدارد.
از دست رفتن جان انسانها، بهویژه در شرایطی که حق حیات، کرامت انسانی و دسترسی آزاد به درمان و امنیت نقض میشود، زخمی عمیق بر وجدان بشری است. جامعهٔ پزشکی، که سوگندش حفظ جان و کاهش رنج انسانهاست، نمیتواند در برابر چنین فجایعی خاموش بماند.
پاما ضمن ابراز همبستگی با خانوادههای داغدار، بر ضرورت احترام به حقوق بنیادین انسانها، حفاظت از جان شهروندان، و مصونیت مراکز درمانی و کادر سلامت تأکید میکند. ما باور داریم که حقیقت، عدالت و پاسخگویی، پیششرط التیام این زخمها و جلوگیری از تکرار چنین تراژدیهایی است.

The Persian American Medical Association (PAMA) expresses its deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives in Iran.
The loss of innocent lives—particularly under circumstances involving the violation of the right to life, human dignity, and access to safety and medical care—represents a profound tragedy that weighs heavily on the conscience of humanity. As members of the medical community, bound by an oath to preserve life and alleviate suffering, we cannot remain silent in the face of such devastation.
PAMA stands in solidarity with the grieving families and with the people of Iran, and emphasizes the fundamental importance of respect for human rights, the protection of civilians, and the inviolability of medical personnel and healthcare facilities. We believe that truth, accountability, and justice are essential to healing these wounds and to preventing future tragedies.
We honor the memory of those who have lost their lives and extend our sincere wishes for strength and resilience to their families during this time of profound grief. The Iranian medical community around the world stands with the people of Iran.

پاما با نهایت نگرانی و انزجار، گزارشهای متعدد و مستند درباره فشار، تهدید، احضار و بازداشت پزشکان، پرستاران، امدادگران و سایر اعضای کادر درمان در ایران را که صرفاً به انجام وظیفه حرفهای و انسانی خود در مداوای مجروحان پرداختهاند، بهشدت محکوم میکند.
مداوای مجروحان ـ فارغ از هویت، عقیده، گرایش سیاسی یا نحوه آسیبدیدگی آنان ـ وظیفهای بنیادین، غیرقابل مذاکره و مصون از هرگونه تعقیب بر اساس اصول اخلاق پزشکی، سوگند بقراط، قوانین بینالمللی حقوق بشر و کنوانسیونهای بشردوستانه است. جرمانگاری درمان، نقض آشکار کرامت انسانی و مصداق بارز سرکوب سیستماتیک نهاد سلامت است.
فشار بر کادر درمان برای خودداری از درمان مجروحان، تحویل بیماران به نهادهای امنیتی، یا ارائه اطلاعات پزشکی، نهتنها جان بیماران را به خطر میاندازد، بلکه بنیان اعتماد عمومی به نظام سلامت را ویران میکند و مسئولیت مستقیم پیامدهای جانی و روانی آن متوجه آمران و عاملان این سیاستهاست.

PAMA Statement Condemning Pressure, Intimidation, and Arrest of Healthcare Workers for Treating the Wounded in Iran
PAMA expresses its profound concern and unequivocal condemnation of the documented reports of intimidation, threats, interrogation, and arrest of physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare workers in Iran solely for fulfilling their professional and humanitarian duty by providing medical care to the wounded.
The treatment of injured individuals—regardless of their identity, beliefs, political views, or the circumstances under which they were injured—is a fundamental and non-negotiable obligation under medical ethics, the Hippocratic Oath, international human rights law, and humanitarian conventions. Criminalizing medical care constitutes a grave violation of human dignity and represents a systematic assault on the integrity of the healthcare system.
Forcing healthcare professionals to deny care, report patients to security forces, or disclose confidential medical information endangers lives, destroys public trust in medical institutions, and places direct responsibility for resulting physical and psychological harm on those who order and enforce such practices.
PAMA affirms that:
1. The arrest, harassment, and prosecution of healthcare workers for performing their professional duties are unlawful and inhumane.
2. The professional, legal, and personal safety of all healthcare workers must be immediately and unconditionally guaranteed.
3. All detained medical professionals must be released without delay.
4. The international community, medical associations, and human rights organizations have a responsibility to urgently investigate and address these serious violations of medical neutrality and human rights.
In one of the darkest periods of Iran’s contemporary history, healthcare workers have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to human life in the face of coercion and repression. PAMA stands in full solidarity with them and reaffirms its firm commitment to the principles of medical neutrality, the right to health, and the sanctity of human life.
Medical care is not a crime.
Healthcare workers are not enemies.
