↟ GOD JUÓL! ❄️

🇬🇧 - in comment below! ⬇️

- fortsättning i kommentar nedan ⬇️

↟ Midvinterblot/Juól/Hókunótt - Guóð Juól ↟

❄️ Native Scandinavians in Sweden celebrating Juól and Midvinterblot at full moon. Today, January 7, marks Midwinter and the first full moon occur after the Winter Solstice here in Scandinavia. This is one of the most important dates in our pre-Christian culture, and according to our Old Norse calendar the original celebration of Juól/Yule takes place today together with Juólblót/Midvinterblot. Yule is a very old Scandinavian tradition that originally has it's roots in the old Germanic Winter Solstice celebrations and Midvinterblot.

❄️ It is the second blót that Odin enacts in the Ynglinga Saga, a blót during midwinter that lasts three nights. In the sources, midwinter is referred to as "Hókunótt" and it was at Hókunótt that the heathen Yule was celebrated. This blót is much disputed, but one thing that is certain is that Yule was not... - continues in comment below! ⬇️

↟ Native Scandinavian in traditional folk custome from Västerbotten with a Näverlur, Sweden 🇸🇪

Näverlur - Lúðrblást, Norse Hornblést (Birch Horn), is an ancient traditional Scandinavian instrument made of wood of fir and birch. The instrument is dating back 1100 years ago and the oldest Näverlur that has been found in Sweden can be tracked back as far as 900s.

The Näverlur is associated with the old Scandinavian "fäbod-culture" where it was used to attract the animals to come home, scare predators, to keep evil forest creatures away (creatures form our Scandinavian folklore), and to send different messages to other villages over long distances. The sound from a Näverlur has the capacity to travel up to more than 5 kilometres.

There are different melodies for different messages and it was usually women who used these horns. Each one could play in a unique melody that revealed whom... - continues in comment below ⬇️

↟ Vingsted Jernalder, an open-air museum located in Velje, Denmark 🇩🇰

Older cultural monuments on this area from the Iron Age (500 BC - 1050 AD) have been preserved and utilized - a reconstructed Iron Age environment with houses, estates, fields, smithy, sacrificial area and living cattle.

During the Iron Age, the farms were built surrounded by a fence with several houses next to a larger residential building. These houses were used for various purposes such as a smithy or a loom. There was also often an excavated well in close to the larger residential building on the farm.

↟ I am looking at this ancient rune carving through the thousands of ancestors that watched it before me. I am reliving their memories, I am them. Native Scandinavian from Sweden, repost from: @viktoria_louise ✨️

This rock carving is located in Södermanland, Sweden with inscription from the 1000s A.D. of the younger futhark:

ᚠᚢᚦᚬᚱᚴ   ᚼᚿᛁᛅᛋ   ᛏᛒᛉᛚᛣ
× fuþąrk × hnias × tbmlʀ ×

The runes is carved directly on the surface of a steep mountain wall and is located on the former property of the now-disapeared village of "Berga". Rune stones were often carved in memorial of a fallen family member, but also in memory of a road, a bridge building or after seafaring Vikings. The inscription of what is left of the runes through all these years of eroding decipher the following:
ku... ---kuna × li...u × hakua × stain × thina × auk × buru × th...a × -- ...sinn
"... (and) Gunna had this stone... - continues in comment below! ⬇️

↟ Dísablót/Disting -an ancient Swedish thing ↟

🌕 Dísablót & Disting is a ancient tradition that is considered to have taken place today - at the third full moon after the Winter Solstice mainly here in Sweden, Scandinavia. The blót was held to show reverence for Spring, to ensure good fertility and harvest for the coming year. Several gods are worshiped, mainly the Dísir - female goddesses of fate in our Norse mythology, whom can be both benevolent and evil. A dís exist for example the night, the wind and the rain - Skaði is sometimes associated with the winter dís.

🌕 Dísablót is one of the most famous blóts and like Hókunótt/Midwinter/Juólblót also one of the most misunderstood. According to the Heimskringla Saga, this Swedish tradition is "as old as Heathenry itself". Disting was taking form of a large market (named after the Dísir), which is still held today in Old Uppsala,... - continues in comment below! ⬇️
