To have started a family in my 20s would have been less pressing. I would have had less fears of miscarriage (which I’ve had), failure, fertility, down syndrome, what ifs. But I’m sure I would have had a different set of fears.
In any case, I’m grateful that I woke up in time to still start, even though it feels late. 37 yo is late people! We need to be brutally honest with women about this. And so maybe this was the timing that was meant for me, it does feel that way. But no one needs to sugar coat it. If I want 3-4 children, I’m really against the wall. It will take some miracles of timing and health to have that happen. So good thing I believe in miracles. ☺️ But I may also have to face that my vitality/fertility won’t be able.
From overpopulation bs to feminism to hippie retreats to extended adolescence to career worship to casual dating...there are a lot of ways a woman can burn through her child-bearing years if she’s not vigilant. I gave myself a tiny window, but I’m going to make the most of it.
