Wisdom in The Information Age

This is an interesting topic.

High-speed advanced technologies (designed to enhance quality of life > rapid actualization) significantly shape cultural norms. The result?

An instant gratification society.

What does it mean to exist in an instant gratification society?

A neuro-physiological dependency to experience rapid feedback.

What kind of rapid feedback? In terms of dependency (expectation), feedback type ranges from baseline useful to positive in most typically expected.

Send a text, expect a reply.

Post a pic, expect a like. Or at least, expect interaction of some kind.

Useful feedback may not necessarily mean positive feedback, but useful + positive feedback is generally preferred (Useful+).

So to recap:

What does it mean to exist in an instant gratification society?

A neuro-physiological dependency to experience rapid feedback, with a preferential expectation that rapid feedback is useful and positive.

Input(your Action) =(Receives) Useful+ (Feedback).

Input = Useful+

This is what’s expected.

There was a time in history before now, when we didn’t know if our actions would result in immediate feedback.

ie: Send a letter to loved one overseas, have no idea if you’d receive a reply or not depending on the context.

Prior to the Information Age, the equation was different.

Ponder the implications of this statement for a moment.

Intelligence

Wisdom is built upon knowledge.
Knowledge is a result of experience, intelligence, and time (age).

Intelligence reflects the speed with which you can learn.

There are key differences in terms, but in the context of this topic, the terms are inter-related.

The ability to acquire and apply knowledge is more useful than the simple quality of having knowledge already.

Being smart is a process of learning, while being wise is a product of experience.

Both imply time, intellect, lessons learned and lessons applied.

The difference between the two, (Smart vs. Wise) in the context of circumstantial application (the context in which you exist and make decisions)- is efficacy.

A smart person may apply knowledge in a situation with less efficacy than a wise person, who applies their knowledge in the same situation - though both are technically peers in age or academic credentials.

The same could be true even if they were not peers in age or academic credentials.

What does this mean?

Upon review of decision making, circumstantial efficacy of applied knowledge will differentiate the smart from the wise.

My friend who runs the Narrative Reframes channel compared our situation to a hostile custody battle. That is true, but I have an even better analogy.
The current American party system, in all three branches of government, is like WWE wrestling. The actors pretend like they're really going at it and throwing left hooks like there's no tomorrow. But, no matter what, at the end of the day they get paid.
I don't want a career in fake wrestling, and therein lies my motive

Here's what the key section of the new punitive resolution says on SWIFT:

...Underscores that if such a military build-up were in the future to be transformed into an invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the EU must make clear that the price for such a violation of international law and norms would be severe; insists, therefore, that in such circumstances imports of oil and gas from Russia to the EU be immediately stopped, while Russia should be excluded from the SWIFT payment system, and all assets in the EU of oligarchs close to the Russian authorities and their families in the EU need to be frozen and their visas cancelled; 

It's certainly not the first time that Western allies have threatened such. The threat to cut off Russia from the global system for financial messaging and cross-border payments which acts as the protector of the dollar reserve system has lingered for the past half-decade, since the initial Crimea crisis and the start of war in eastern Ukraine.

Russian officials have recently called Ukraine's lobbying to get Russia banned from SWIFT "a declaration of war"

"Naturally, all this casts doubt on not only the expediency of using the American currency as a priority payment currency, but also the reliability of using payment mechanisms controlled by the West," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 15 in response to new US sanctions.

Further according to TASS:
She pointed out that Russia's gradual reduction of the dollar share in national and cross-border settlements is a "forced decision" made "in the conditions of losing confidence in the West in matters of ensuring uninterrupted access to the international financial system" as well as declining predictability of US economic policy and uncontrolled introduction of unreasonable restrictive measures.
