The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially declared Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru (DCP) the winner of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election in a landslide victory.

Official results are as follows:

โœ… Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru (DCP) โ€“ 35,440 votes
โœ… Samuel Muchina Nyagah (UDA) โ€“ 5,450 votes
โœ… Wilson Mwaniki Kigwa (Jubilee) โ€“ 198 votes

The victory is being seen as a major political boost for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and a significant setback for President William Ruto and UDA.

The by-election attracted intense national attention, with President Ruto and senior government officials camping in the constituency for days.

The government rolled out several development projects and distributed items including gas cylinders, mattresses, blankets, food supplies, boats, and other household goods in a bid to win over voters. Despite the heavy campaign and spending, voters overwhelmingly backed the DCP candidate.

Reports have emerged claiming that Vincent Ochieng, the man shot dead by DCI detectives during a police operation in Joska, was the son of Court of Appeal Judge Justice Aggrey Muchelule from his first wife.

The reports have sparked widespread online debate, with many Kenyans pointing to the striking resemblance between the slain suspect and the senior judge.

Ochieng had been identified by detectives as the prime suspect in the viral armed robbery at Chaiiwali Restaurant in Nairobi's Spring Valley on July 4. He was fatally shot after allegedly opening fire on officers who had cornered him at his hideout in Joska, Machakos County.

Police say they recovered a pistol registered to Justice Muchelule during the operation. The judge later reported that the firearm had gone missing from his Kitisuru home and has since recorded a statement with investigators.

The DCI is continuing investigations as detectives pursue other suspects believed to have participated in the robbery.

The hackers allegedly threatened to release sensitive government information if their demands were not met by 6 p.m. State House has acknowledged the cyberattack, saying its ICT team is working to restore the website and investigate the breach.

Authorities are yet to confirm whether any sensitive government data was accessed or leaked.

A Nairobi mother has sued Hospital Hill Comprehensive School, its head teacher, and the school's Board of Management after her Grade 8 daughter was suspended over claims that she had booked an Airbnb and was seen with a male learner during the mid-term break.

According to the mother, the allegations are false and misleading. She says she knew exactly where her daughter was during the break and that the girl had only attended a birthday party.

She further claims the school went beyond its mandate by invading her daughter's privacy, alleging that a teacher accessed the learner's Instagram account without consent, and that the school failed to follow proper disciplinary procedures before taking action against the child.

She also says she was told to take her daughter for counselling, despite the absence of any proven misconduct.

The case, now before the Milimani Law Courts, raises questions about student privacy, school discipline, and parents' rights.

A mysterious incident has left a Nairobi family searching for answers after 21-year-old Margaret Wambui was found dead outside Altura Apartments in Upper Hill.

According to preliminary reports, Wambui entered the 22-storey apartment building on Saturday night before making her way to the rooftop, where she was reportedly taking photos. A security guard is said to have briefly left the area, only to return and discover that she was missing. Her body was later found on a neighbouring property below.

Wambui, a hotel intern who lived in Kasarani, had reportedly left home earlier that evening, telling her family she was heading to work. However, she never arrived. Her phone, handbag, work uniform, ID card, and other personal belongings were recovered from the rooftop.

Her family has dismissed claims of suicide, insisting she was in good spirits and demanding a thorough investigation into whether she fell accidentally or if foul play was involved.
