As New York struggles to undo the lies of anti-vaxers, moms step in to help

There's no question: The ongoing measles outbreak in #NY is in a league of its own. As of the outbreak's ninth month, more than 800 people in the state have become sick, and New Yorkers have infected people in four other states.

Around the United States, there have been 1,022 cases of measles in 28 states this year as of Friday, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To put New York's number in perspective, it's huge: The next largest measles outbreak in the United States in the past 20 years was less than half that size and lasted less than half as long.

Michael Ciskiewic was arrested Monday on charges of kidnapping, burglary, rape, assault and menacing with a weapon after he was found hiding in a nearby industrial area. Police had been searching for the suspect after receiving a call about an assault early Sunday morning. They found a broken window and blood but no one was at that home.

The woman's family was unable to make contact with her and police returned with a bloodhound. The dog tracked her to another home nearby where she was rescued. The woman was treated at a hospital and released.

City closes another Williamsburg yeshiva that admitted unvaccinated students and staff

Satmar Boys Division at 762 Wythe Ave. is the 10th school the Health Department shut for not complying with an April 9 order by Health Commissioner #OxirisBarbot, which she issued after the highly-contagious illness swept through Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish communities.

Her department shut down the northern Brooklyn school on June 11 for letting students and staff onto its campus despite not providing documentation that they’d been vaccinated, and the school will have to produce those records before they can reopen, according to the city agency.

Yossi Green Composes a Song In Honor of Hamaspik

Yossi Green, the world-renowned composer shares his thoughts on how this song came to light.

in the summer of 2019, I had a profound experience at #Hamaspik. Invited to play music at an appreciation event, I had the opportunity to connect with the souls of this unbelievably special organization and learn what they do every day. From this experience came a song–one that I feel truly expresses what Hamaspik does.

I found the words in Nishmas. מַתִיּר אֲסוּרִים, וְהַסּוֹמֵך נוֹפְלִים –these words describe how the Ribbono shel Olam supports the fallen, frees those imprisoned. But it also explains, so beautifully, the work of Hamaspik. Special neshamos with disabilities often feel imprisoned in their own bodies. But through the miracle workers of Hamaspik, they’re freed every day–when they learn to communicate; when they learn independence; when they are shown tremendous care, support and love. The Hamaspik staff emulates the Ribbono shel Olam’s work, every day.
