Woman smashed Bronx restaurant windows with bat over out-of-stock beef patties, police say

Where's the beef?

#NYPD is seeking help to identify a woman they say slugged out the windows of a #Bronx restaurant when it didn't have beef patties.

The incident last month began when the unknown suspect entered Back Home Restaurant, a Jamaican and American eatery, and ordered a beef patty with cheese, police said Saturday.

"The individual was informed that there were no beef patties in stock at which time the unknown individual became irate," police said in a statement.

That's when she walked out and broke the restaurant's window and glass front door with an aluminum baseball bat, police say.

Video shows the suspect taking multiple swings at the glass. People on the sidewalk try to intervene but to no avail, according to the video. The suspect then walks away.

Swastikas Found In L Train Delays Subway Line: MTA

#MTA delayed service on the #LLine during Wednesday morning's commute to clean up swastikas that it found in one of the trains, officials said.

Just after 9 a.m., MTA officials tweeted that the subway line's #Canarsie-bound trains would be delayed to clean up racist graffiti. The graffiti, which officials later said was swastikas found in one of the trains, was found in a train by the Myrtle-Wyckoff station.

The train was removed from service so that it could be cleaned up, officials said.

Riders told MTA on Twitter that the delay was causing crowds to form at the Lorimer and Graham stations. One rider said she had been waiting for more than 10 minutes and saw a train go by without stopping.

Assemblyman proposes bill to end religious exemptions for measles vaccine

A proposed bill would end religious exemptions for #Measles vaccines.

Measles cases are on the rise in Rockland. Officials say there are now 135 confirmed cases in #Rockland County – a majority of them in children.

"When this broke, and it was predominantly in the area where we have Orthodox community, the rabbis there, and it was over 100 of them who met with our commissioner of health, were absolutely in support of getting children immunized,” says Rockland County Executive #EdDay.

An order from the Health Department remains in effect for more than 30 schools in #NewSquare, #SpringValley and #Monsey to keep home students who are unvaccinated or undervaccinated from the measles - until 21 days after the last case in the county.

Proposed legislation from Assemblyman #JeffreyDinowitz would ban religious and non-medical exemptions as a reason for parents not to vaccinate children in #NY.

Fire damages Bedford Hills synagogue

The #Chabad Jewish Center of Bedford stood boarded up following a Tuesday afternoon electrical fire.

An electrical issue with a water cooler sparked the fire that ripped through the building, according to Rabbi Arik Wolf. There were no reported injuries.

"Just to come here and see it as a black, burnt-out shell -- to have your home almost burn down, it's painful," says Wolf.

According to reports, #BedfordHills firefighters and other departments battled the flames for nearly 30 minutes. Damage appeared to be worst on the left side of the building.

The center will remain closed for months. In the meantime, morning services were held at the Katonah Memorial House.

Wolf says they plan on moving to a new location in Bedford soon.
