πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ the classic collegiate NUS shirts are finally for sale again! These are rarely available and highly sought after so we recommend y’all purchase now. It also takes time for production so it’s good to order early!

Most ppl buy more than three, so you might want to buy together with friends to maximise the bundle deals (e.g. if you want four shirts, it’s more savings to join together with another friend who wants two shirts so that y’all can get six shirts in total using two β€œtriple bundles” than for you to get one β€œtriple bundle” + one β€œsingle shirt”)

P.S. for those looking to buy NUS shirts, those from this official fundraiser are likely the cheapest you can get them (at as low as $10 per shirt). The main alternative is to buy from NUS Co-op, but their prices are usually seen as over-priced (so an NUS shirt there costs ~$25 per shirt!) so it's recommended that you get them while this fundraiser is ongoing!

What if you did not get the course you want, or change your mind later?

⁃ Assuming you have already tried making an appeal, what else can you do if you do not get what you wanted?

A) Gap year/reapplying during NS: If you are in NS, the obvious answer is that you can re-apply again in a subsequent year, or if you are not in NS, you may consider taking a gap year (during which you can also build portfolio) to reapply. Some may consider re-taking the A-Levels if you find that worthwhile. (Note that you have to take the H2 subjects and GP together in one seating. However, if what pulled you down may have been a fourth content subject, it is possible to retake a H1 content subject e.g. H1 Economics on its own!)

B) Continue with the course you were given, and apply for transfer after the first semester/during the second semester. It is possible to change courses. As a transfer applicant, while your pre-university score (e.g. A-Level) is likely still considered to some extent, doing well in Year 1 in university may also be helpful in proving academic merit to transfer to a course you could not enter. Depending on which faculty you transfer to and what modules you take in year 1, you may be able to count credits towards your new course of study should you successfully transfer, such that there is less or no delay in graduation. This may work well for faculties that provide more leeway for unrestricted electives, or if the faculty you transfer to shares similar modules to your Y1 course.

Note that there will be an increase in university fees payable should you have to extend candidature past the normal number of semesters as there would not be further MOE Tuition Grant. However, NUS subsidises the first and second semester past normal candidature such that the increase in fees is significantly mitigated.

C) If you are someone who has already done well but are simply afraid you might change your mind on the course you want at a later date, and are e.g. going to NS, you can also consider applying to NUS College in future. It is said that NUSC students get a special benefit of being able to transfer to any course they want within NUSC, with a supposedly 100% success rate; this excludes restricted programs e.g. Law, PPE, Pharm Science, and courses like Med/Dentistry/Architecture (Refer to Page 4 here). Of course, going to NUSC for merely this purpose may be unwise to some, but a possible consideration for the highly undecided.

D) Post-graduate options: NUS and SMU Law offer a "Juris Doctor"β€”where you can take Law for three years after completing a bachelors in something else first. Similarly, Duke-NUS offers Medicine at a post-graduate level for those who have completed a bachelors degree in a different field. Unfortunately, this does mean that you will have many additional years of schooling, and these options can be very costly. It remains an option for those who still want to go into Law/Medicine after completing an undergraduate degree in something else, though!

Hope this helps! Do share our channel @NUSguide with your friends as we continue to share more helpful tips/information!
