Moreover, he is also not required to register as a s*x offender.
Adam Hoffman, 49, was originally charged with first-degree felony continuous s*xual abuse of a young child, his son’s best friend. However, in June 2025, the original charges against Hoffman ended in a mistrial after jurors were deadlocked 7-5 in favor of his conviction. He was facing life without parole before Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was able to reduce his charges in exchange for a plea deal.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - A Fredericksburg teen was located on Friday after three days missing, police said. The man she was with—a convicted felon previously charged with a child sex crime—was arrested.
According to officials, Van Zandt was traveling with Ronnie Reel, 39. Police issued a warrant for Reel's arrest on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police found Van Zandt and Reel in Woodbridge shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday. While officers worked to reunite the girl with her family, police arrested Reel.

Last November, Hackel went to the 100 block of North Queen Street to meet with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl, the DA’s office said. When he arrived, two members of an anti-child-predator nonprofit group confronted Hackel and called the police.

It took the jury less than three hours to convict Jonathan Smith-Byrd, 35, on six counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion as well as three counts of enticing and coercing another to travel in interstate commerce for prostitution following a seven-day trial. From January 2014 to October 2022,Smith-Byrd used force, fraud and coercion to cause five women to engage in commercial sex. Three of the victims were minors when he trafficked them.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Additional details regarding Scott Kirkman, who is accused of attempted human trafficking and other charges, have been released. Kirkman is a local real estate agent and ex-director of music ministries for First United Methodist Church.
According to court records, Kirkman was arrested in Bay County by the Panama City Police Department on a warrant out of Leon County. He is charged with:
Attempted human trafficking for commercial sexual activity
Use of a computer to solicit a minor
Unlawful use of a two-way communication device
The arrest affidavit says that Kirkman responded to an ad placed by an undercover officer. The ad offered an illicit encounter with females and was written to sound like its author was passing through Tallahassee.
He allegedly asked for images to be sent to him of a girl he acknowledged was 15 years old. According to the arrest affidavit, he asked the undercover agent: “The 15-year-old, where is she from? What does she look like?”

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A Twin Falls man who pled guilty to child sexual abuse was sentenced in court Friday afternoon.
46-year-old Matthew Brander was arrested last year. The Twin Falls Police Department said they received a report from a woman claiming that Brander molested her several times between 2016 and 2018 when she was a teenager.
Brander previously pleaded not guilty to all charges, but later pled guilty to two counts of child sexual abuse as part of a deal. In court today, the judge handed down a sentence of 30 years fixed, and 20 years indeterminate, as well as a civil fine to the victim of $10,000.

A 28-year-old Trenton, New Jersey man is set to serve more than 20 years in prison after being found guilty of sex assault and sex trafficking underaged girls, officials said Monday.
According to law enforcement officials in Mercer County, Al-Tariq Mitchell, 28, of Trenton, was sentenced on May 12, 2026, to serve 22 years in state prison after being found guilty by a jury on charges of aggravated sex assault, endangering the welfare of a child, advertising sex abuse of a minor and related offenses.
An investigation, officials said, found on New Year's Day, of 2017, Mitchell gave a 16-year-old a cell phone to advertise for sex online and he rented a hotel room. Then, in March of 2017, Mitchell held a 12-year-old girl against her will and forced her to have sex with him multiple times, investigators found.

▫️Pike County man sentenced in child sex abuse case dating back nearly 20 years
A Pike County man will serve time in prison after pleading guilty to child sex abuse charges that date back nearly two decades.
Prosecutors say 44-year-old Everett McKean, who was last known to live in Shohola, was sentenced in Pike County Court after admitting to multiple offenses involving two victims. The charges included aggravated indecent assault and several counts of indecent assault involving minors.
Judge Gregory Chelak sentenced McKean to between 45 months and five years in a state prison. He was also ordered to pay a $2,500 penalty tied to the state’s Crime Victim Services and Compensation Fund.
The case came together after one victim came forward, which led investigators to learn of a second person who reported being abused by McKean as a child between the ages of 7 and 14. Both victims are now adults.

▫️Social worker warns parents of the things ‘sex offenders don’t want you to know’
The paediatric social worker says that one of these red flags on their own is not necessarily a worry but that research says sex offenders often display these types of behaviours.
Danielle, who has over 15 years experience of working with parents and kids says these are the things that mums, dads, guardians and caregivers should be extra vigilant about.
The first is when they claim to have an interest in the same things the child likes, even though this may not be the case.
The second is when they take the child’s side and often encourage them to act out against their parent or caregiver, insinuating that they would have taken their side in a disagreement.
The third is when they are always offering to babysit or help out. This may not be the well-meaning offer it appears to be and instead they are hoping to get the child on their own.
Lastly, the social worker says another sign can be when this person is always saying they will supervise the kids, taking on the helpful role.
There are of course more, and often much more obvious signs, such as inappropriate jokes or with older content, potentially showing them unsuitable content. Danielle ends her post by saying ‘silence protects predators. Education protects children’.
