⚡MURDERS COMMITTED BY MINORS MORE THAN DOUBLED IN ONE YEAR

In Italy, in 2024, murders committed by minors more than doubled compared to 2023.

According to Criminalpol data, the percentage rose from 4% to 11.8% of the total. In absolute terms, the number rose from 14 homicides in 2023 (out of a total of 340) to around 35 in 2024 (out of a total of 319), an increase of more than 150%, despite the overall decline in homicides.

At the same time, in mid-2025, there were 586 young people in juvenile detention centers, compared to fewer than 400 in 2022. Restrictive measures against minors and young adults increased by 8.1% (from 4,391 to 4,747).

40.6% of young people between the ages of 15 and 19 have been involved in fights or brawls at least once, affecting around one million adolescents.
