Current guidelines in several countries recommend screening for neurological conditions, including autism, prior to medical intervention in children and adolescents with gender dysphoria
A report released in November by the British think tank Centre for Social Justice shows that autism and ADHD are "overrepresented," or disproportionately common, among adolescents with gender dysphoria
According to the report, based on data from the U.K. National Health Service, 32.4 percent of people screened for gender dysphoria had a diagnosis of autism and 11.7 percent had a diagnosis of ADHD
These figures were about 16 times higher than the national population average for autism and more than twice that for ADHD
