Children with military insurance (Tricare) are 30 percent more likely to have an ASD diagnosis, and, the incidence increases with the severity of autism in children of active-duty fathers.

Researchers speculate that toxic exposures related to military service-such as PFAS, water contaminants or other industrial agents-may be a key factor.
