Sudani Proposes Iraqi Mediation Between Disputing Arab States

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani stated on Friday that Iraq’s most valuable role today is to serve as an *honest broker* between disputing countries with conflicts or differing viewpoints. He emphasized that the government has prepared all necessary requirements to ensure the success of the upcoming Arab Summit, stressing the need to move beyond reactionary positions toward proactive influence and action.

In a press interview, as reported by Network 964, Al-Sudani said:

– Baghdad is being adorned in preparation for both the Ordinary and Development-focused Arab Summits.

– The Arab Summit comes at a critical time for the region.

– Hosting the summit reaffirms Iraq’s ongoing leadership role in the region.

– Iraq is taking steady steps to shape a unified Arab stance on various issues.

– We have prepared all requirements to ensure the success of the Arab Summit.

– Many Arab countries are facing direct and indirect challenges; our vision is to move forward with a framework of joint action.

– It is not right to wait for foreign intervention to resolve internal Arab crises.

– Our human and natural resources can help mitigate the negative impact of economic challenges.

– Our humanitarian efforts and their deployment in crisis zones are essential and urgently needed across Arab nations.

– The greatest role Iraq can play today is as a fair and impartial mediator between countries with disputes or conflicting perspectives.

– It is unacceptable to sit idly by while problems escalate, creating openings for external interference in the Arab world.

– We see Syria’s security as an integral part of Iraq’s national security.
