Yeah so, these fires πŸ”₯......
3 of the 4 are out. Fully under control. And they are claiming a state of emergency? What is REALLY going on?

Clearly when you watch the fires yesterday, you can see that D.E.W. started them.
Which side did it though?

They are very concentrated with fast high temperature burning precision in a tight center. Straight line for a long ways with nothing happening but green in front and in back of the line for quite a ways. No random movement of the fires.
Most fire maps that I watched did not even register it.

No Orange screens on it. Not that I can watch 24/7 so one could have gone up. They go up and come down quickly sometimes.
And no dumbs being blown up.
No major aircraft going in and out of there.

If we don't know now, we will in a few days. An article will come out quietly. Keep your eyes peeled. πŸ‘€

Iraq’s Spending Surpasses Economic Powerhouses: Time for Strategic Change

In a striking revelation, Iraq's annual expenditure has reached an impressive $100 billion, surpassing the spending levels of economic powerhouses such as the UAE, Malaysia, and Singapore. According to Manar Al-Obeidi, President of the Iraq Future Foundation, Iraq generated 1,028 trillion Iraqi dinars in revenue over the past decade, predominantly from oil exports, which constituted 92% of the total income. Despite this significant wealth, Iraq's economic landscape remains narrowly focused on the oil sector, starkly contrasting with diversified economies elsewhere.

"The irony lies in the fact that these countries do not possess the vast natural resources or the sizable population that Iraq enjoys, yet they've successfully developed prosperous economies with smaller budgets," Al-Obeidi remarked. He highlighted that Iraq’s yearly expenditure exceeds that of the UAE ($65 billion), Malaysia ($82 billion), and Singapore ($77 billion). However, these nations boast robust economies, with diversified sectors contributing significantly to their GDPs, unlike Iraq, which continues to rely heavily on oil revenues.

Al-Obeidi stresses that Iraq’s challenge is not rooted in resource scarcity but in resource management. "The issue has never been the lack of resources, but rather their management and deployment toward sustainable development," he explained. Advocating for substantial economic reforms, Al-Obeidi emphasized the necessity of diversifying the economy, improving expenditure efficiency, and combating financial waste. He concluded poignantly by referencing a widely-circulated developmental mantra: "A stable government to improve development management." Any deviation from this simple yet crucial directive, he warns, risks undermining Iraq's entire developmental trajectory.

Trade between Iraq and Saudi Arabia soars to $1.3 billion

The Iraqi ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Safia Al-Suhail, said that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Saudi Arabia reached $1.3 billion in 2024, reflecting a significant increase compared to previous years.

In an interview with the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Al-Suhail stated that the political, economic, and commercial ties between Saudi Arabia and Iraq are undergoing a noteworthy and ongoing evolution.

The Iraqi diplomat clarified that there are 46 Iraqi firms registered in Saudi Arabia, compared to 34 Saudi companies registered in Iraq.

According to Al-Suhail, Iraqi Airways is anticipated to start weekly flights between Baghdad and the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in April. This move is expected to improve trade and tourism between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and to fortify connections between the people in both countries.

The strategic shift in Iraqi-Saudi ties reflects the goals of the leaderships in both countries to strengthen their cooperation in political, security, and economic areas.

Baghdad and Riyadh have taken concrete actions in order to strengthen their collaboration in a way that advances regional stability and serves shared interests.

For all you pasta lovers, here’s what you need to know about pasta in a nutshell:

The only pasta you should be buying is made in Italy with organic durum wheat, which should be extruded using a bronze-die.

It must only have 3 ingredients, wheat, eggs and salt. That's it! Bronze-die pasta is more expensive but it's such a game changer. It's 1000 times better in quality and actually sticks to the sauce!
