Ford announces thousands of workers to be temporarily laid off amid chip shortage
The auto manufacturer said it would reduce production at several plants across North America citing a shortage of semiconductors. (WSWS)
Thousands of hourly workers were laid off at Ford’s factories in Chicago, Wayne, and Cuautitlan, Mexico.
The company’s truck plants in Kentucky and Michigan will be operating on single shifts or a reduced schedule.
The supply chain crisis continues.

Texas attorney general to investigate GoFundMe for shutting down Freedom Convoy fundraiser
AG Ken Paxton issued the Civil Investigative Demands to investigate potential violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, his site read.
GoFundMe has come under heavy scrutiny after it shut down a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign for Canada’s Freedom Convoy.
“I am acting to protect Texas consumers so that they know where their hard-earned money is […] I will get to the bottom of this deceitful action,” Paxton said.

The landmark comes after China’s own nuclear fusion reactor produced a record 126 million°F of heat for 17 minutes in December, with France’s ITER project set to be the world’s largest nuclear fusion research facility when completed in 2025.
