▫️Former San Marcos teacher found guilty of sexual abuse of a child
SAN MARCOS, Texas — A former San Marcos High School (SMHS) teacher and assistant coach has been found guilty of three counts of sexual assault of a child.
On Nov. 2, a Hays County jury found David Ross Guerrero guilty. According to a press release from the Hays County District Attorney's Office, after Guerrero was found guilty, three additional victims testified during the punishment phase of his trial. All were former students of Guerrero, and each outlined his inappropriate behavior and sexual relationships with them while he was a teacher at SMHS.

▫️Former Richland music teacher/preacher gets life in prison on child sex charges
Samuel Lamar Taylor, 52, has been sentenced to life without parole after he was convicted by a Rankin County jury on September 20, 2023, of one count of sexual battery and one count of gratification of lust. He will serve 15 years on the gratification of lust charge. The sentences will be served day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release. Taylor served as a music teacher for over 25 years at schools across Mississippi, retiring from Richland Upper Elementary School in 2020. Taylor was also a minister at several churches throughout Rankin County, dating back to the 1980s.

▫️South Lake Tahoe high school coach sentenced for child porn
A South Lake Tahoe snowboarding instructor and high school soccer coach was sentenced Monday to five years in prison and five years of supervised release post-incarceration for distributing child pornography, according to federal prosecutors. Timothy Mackey, 42, worked at Heavenly Mountain Resort and also as a junior varsity boys soccer coach at South Lake Tahoe High School. A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California said Mackey was a member of group chats on social media that shared explicit images of children.

LAWRENCE, MA — A Boston lawyer is calling for justice for his client, who says he was sexually abused by the late Brother Brendan Brennan of the Marist Brothers congregation while he was a 16-year-old student at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence in 1980.
Attorney Mitchell Garabedian, who has represented clergy sexual abuse victims and survivors for decades, said in an interview with Patch Monday that his hope is that the Archdiocese of Boston Cardinal Seán Patrick O'Malley and the Marist Brothers acknowledge the alleged abuse and settle his client's claim.

▫️Former Law Enforcement Officer Sentenced to 30 Years for Sexual Exploitation of a Child
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A Crane, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for sexually exploiting a child. Jeffrey Prowant, 47, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes to 30 years in federal prison without parole. The 14-year-old child victim told investigators that Prowant had sexually assaulted her and confirmed that he took pornographic photos of her.
