▫️Gabon's predators on the pitch: Inside a paedophile football scandal
Football's governing bodies face accusations they failed to protect young victims of sexual abuse in Gabon. BBC Africa Eye spoke to more than 30 witnesses who told of a network that has plagued all levels of the game for three decades. UK's Guardian newspaper reported the abuse in December 2021, that four coaches were arrested. Three of them remain in prison.

▫️Philippines: 9 ex-Socorro members in IACAT custody
MANILA — Nine former members, all minors, of the Socorro Bayanihan Services Inc. (SBSI), which senators described as a “cult,” are now in the protective custody of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), Sen. Risa Hontiveros said yesterday. Hontiveros said aside from the minors, the IACAT, chaired by Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla of the Department of Justice (DOJ), has also taken into custody four adults as “various circumstances warrant the immediate protective custody of the subject trafficking victims. There is very strong evidence that these children and adults are victims of human trafficking, forced labor, forced marriage, and other forms of child abuse committed by key officials of SBSI. Thus, the DOJ, as the chairperson of the IACAT, formally endorses the protective custody of the individuals,” Remulla noted.

▫️ISF: Two smugglers organizing trips to Europe through Libya arrested
BEIRUT — According to the ISF, the two smugglers are part of a network that organizes the irregular emigration of "Syrians, Lebanese, Egyptians, Palestinians, Africans and others, from Libya to Europe by boat." The Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced Monday the arrest of two men affiliated with a human trafficking network that organizes irregular emigration from Libya to Europe. The ISF stated that the two men, both Syrian nationals, entered Lebanon illegally and were arrested in the country's east, near the Syrian border.
