▫️Powerful ethnic militia in Myanmar repatriates 1,200 Chinese suspected of involvement in cybercrime
One of Myanmar’s biggest and most powerful ethnic minority militias has arrested and repatriated more than 1,200 Chinese nationals allegedly involved in criminal online scam operations, an official of the group said Saturday. The arrests were carried out in territory controlled by the United Wa State Army, or UWSA, in eastern Shan state in raids on Tuesday and Wednesday. Shwe Kokko, a small town in northern part of Kayin state’s Myawaddy township, is notorious for casino complexes that allegedly host major organized crime operations, including online scamming, gambling and human trafficking. The complexes were developed by Chinese investors in cooperation with the local Border Guard Forces, which are militias affiliated with Myanmar’s army.

▫️Malaysia: 12 human traffickers arrested in 5 separate raids by Kedah police
Operation Pintas: Kedah police have dismantled five human trafficking syndicates after the arrest of 12 human trafficking agents in five separate raids statewide. Its chief Datuk Fisol Salleh said that out of the 12 human trafficking agents arrested from the two raids in Langkawi and three in Kubang Pasu, nine were locals while three of them were Myanmar nationals. "Following Ops Pintas we have also detained 47 undocumented immigrants. All of them are believed to be from Myanmar.

Caracas, September 9, 2023. The Public Prosecutor's Office of Willemstad states that it registers "a marked increase in the trafficking of minors, particularly between Venezuela and Curaçao". Through a communiqué published this September 7, the Public Prosecutor's Office indicates that "the trafficked children vary in age between four and 15 years old, and are often transported in boats that also carry drugs and firearms on board".

▫️Philippines: American convicted of human trafficking, sexual abuse of 3 minors in Cagayan de Oro City
An American has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Cagayan de Oro City regional trial court (RTC) for human trafficking and sexual abuse of three minors, the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) said on Sunday, Sept. 10. In a statement, IACAT identified the American as Sebastian Alexander Altamirano, 48, also known as "Afam," who hails from Los Angeles, California, United States. The IACAT said Altamirano moved to Cagayan de Oro City where he operates a chiropractor clinic.
