β‘οΈπ²π¦ The death toll from the earthquake doubled to 632, with another 329 people injured.
What do we know about the earthquake in Morocco:
What happened
βοΈ The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported an earthquake in Morocco.
βοΈ The epidemic is located at a depth of 10 km.
βοΈ Tremors were recorded from Rabat in the north of the country to the town of Sidi Ifni in the south. Experts report that they were felt within a radius of 400 km from the epicenter.
βοΈ The National Institute of Geophysics of Morocco indicated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 7 and that its epicenter was 80 km from Marrakech.
βοΈ In areas affected by the earthquake there are problems with mobile communications and electricity.
Casualties and destruction
βοΈ Five people were initially reported to have been killed due to the earthquake.
βοΈ The death toll later rose to 632, Reuters reported.
βοΈ Several apartment buildings and various structures collapsed in Marrakech.
Actions by authorities
βοΈ Emergency services continue to clear the rubble.
βοΈ The authorities are assessing the material damage caused by the earthquake.
βοΈ In Marrakech, a street hospital was created to provide assistance to victims.
