Happy Lunar New Year! May this tiger-rific year bring you and your loved ones happiness and prosperity 🍊🍊🧧🧧
Keeping #OurHawkerCentres clean & safe is a shared responsibility. When we clear our tables, cleaners can focus on other tasks such as cleaning and disinfecting tables, enabling a faster turnover of clean tables.

This benefits everyone – diners, cleaners and hawkers!
Wanna know how to get your crush’s attention? Clear your table after eating, because being considerate is definitely a relationship green flag. But don’t do it for fear of being #FriendZoned; do it because we all have a part to play in keeping our public dining places clean and safe!

Besides treating our loved ones well, let’s also be considerate towards our cleaners and other diners at #OurHawkerCentres.

Following the plant explosion that occurred at about 5pm in the industrial estate of Tanjung Langsat in Johor, Malaysia on 24 Feb (Thu), NEA has been closely monitoring Singapore’s air quality. The hourly PM2.5 and levels of volatile organic compounds recorded at NEA’s northeast air quality monitoring stations continued to remain low and within the normal variations. Toxic industrial chemicals were also not detected.

NEA will continue to monitor the air quality and provide updates where necessary. Hourly air quality information is available on NEA’s Twitter (https://twitter.com/NEAsg), website (www.nea.gov.sg) and haze microsite (www.haze.gov.sg).
When paying respects this Qing Ming, let’s continue to be socially responsible by observing COVID-19 SMMs. Visitors are advised to visit during weekdays when it is less crowded. Opening hours for government-managed columbaria will be extended to 24 hours, with effect from 26 Mar until 17 Apr 2022.

To ensure smooth flow of traffic, visitors need to book an e-appointment if they are driving to Choa Chu Kang Columbarium (on 26, 27 Mar, and 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17 Apr) and Mandai Columbarium (from 26 Mar to 17 Apr). More info at www.nea.gov.sg/qingming2022
Summing up NEA’s #SGBudget2022 today: To protect public health, the environmental sanitation regime will be expanded to more premises, and smoking prohibition will be extended to more areas. The wastewater surveillance system will continue to play an important role, as SG transits to a COVID-19 resilient nation.

To strive towards a Zero Waste Nation, a charge for disposable carrier bags at supermarkets will come into effect in mid-2023. More at https://www.nea.gov.sg/media/news/news/index/committee-of-supply-2022

Today, as we celebrate #InternationalWomensDay, we would like to give a special shout out to the many  #NEAWomeninSTEM who work hard in their own areas of expertise to collectively contribute toward the larger goal of ensuring that Singapore is clean, liveable and sustainable.

It’s #WorldSleepDay today! And just like you, your devices also need a complete shut down at the end of the workday.
So today, and every day, don’t forget to shut down your devices, so you have smaller electricity bills, and a better night’s rest! #EnergyEfficiency
#SGWeather Remember the cool, stay-in-bed weather on many days last year? 2021 was actually the second wettest year in Singapore, since 1980. But despite the lower temperatures and wetter conditions last year, 2012 to 2021 has been recorded as Singapore’s warmest decade.

Want a deeper dive into Singapore’s recent temperature and rainfall trends? See the 2021 Annual Climate Assessment Report, which is released by Meteorological Service Singapore today, in conjunction with World Meteorological Day. Heading to #OurHawkerCentres? From 29 Mar, up to 5 fully vaccinated persons are allowed to dine in together at all hawker centres, where COVID-19 VDS checks, issuance of stickers and fencing will be removed, to allow greater accessibility and convenience.

If you are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, you cannot dine in but can continue to take away food. Enforcement officers will continue to conduct spot checks, and enforcement action will be taken against unvaccinated individuals found dining in.

#OurHawkerCentres and markets are indoor premises, so do keep your masks on, except when eating or drinking. Even as we transit towards living with COVID-19, let’s continue to stay vigilant and continue to adhere to SMMs, to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Let’s be considerate when paying respects to our ancestors this Qing Ming, by keeping our public spaces clean. Use burners and containers when burning joss paper, and don’t leave behind any food offerings or litter. Visitors are also reminded to book an e-appointment if they are driving to Choa Chu Kang Columbarium (on 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17 Apr) and Mandai Columbarium (from 26 Mar to 17 Apr). Only vehicles with valid e-appointments will be allowed to enter and park. More at www.nea.gov.sg/qingming2022
