When Odin created the woman, he worked late.
A dwarf came by and asked:
“Why spend so much time on her?”

Odin replied:
“Have you seen all the specifications
I have to implement to shape her?
She must function in every situation.
She must be able to hug several children at once.
Able to give an embrace that can heal everything from a bloody knee to a broken heart.
She must do all this with only two hands.
She heals herself when she is ill and can work 18 hours a day.”

The dwarf was impressed.
“With only two hands? Impossible!”

The dwarf came closer and touched the woman.
“But you have made her so soft, Odin.”

“Yes, she is soft, but I have made her strong. You cannot imagine what she can endure and overcome.”

“Can she think?” asked the dwarf.

Odin replied:
“She can not only think, she can reflect and negotiate.”

The dwarf touched her cheeks.
“Odin, it seems this creation is leaking!
You have placed too many burdens on her.”

“She is not leaking, those are tears,” Odin corrected the dwarf.

“What are they for?” asked the dwarf.

Odin said: “Tears are her way of expressing her grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering, and her pride.”

That made a great impression on the dwarf.

“Odin, you have thought of everything.
She has strength that amazes a man. She can deal with problems and carry heavy loads.
She holds happiness, love, and opinions.
She smiles when she wants to scream.
She sings when she feels like crying, cries when she is happy, and laughs when she is afraid. She fights for what she believes in.
Her love is unconditional.
Her heart breaks when a relative or friend dies, but she finds the strength to go on living.”

The dwarf asked:
“So is she a perfect being?”

Odin replied: “Unfortunately not.
She has one flaw.
She often forgets what she is worth.”
