Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was a magnificent ancient tomb built for King Mausolus, a satrap (governor) of the ancient Greek city of Halicarnassus (now Bodrum, Turkey). It was constructed around 350 BC and was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The Mausoleum was built for King Mausolus and his wife, Queen Artemisia, who died shortly after him.
The remains of the Mausoleum were used as a quarry for building materials, but some surviving sculptures and ruins can be seen in the British Museum and in Bodrum, Turkey.

The Flammarion Engraving is a famous wood engraving that illustrates the idea of a traveler reaching the edge of the world and peering into the void. It was created by an unknown artist and published in Camille Flammarion's 1888 book "L'Atmosphère: Météorologie Populaire" (The Atmosphere: Popular Meteorology).

The engraving has been used by spiritual and philosophical traditions to represent; The limitations of human knowledge, the boundary between the known and unknown, the idea of a finite universe and the concept of the "edge" of the world.
