💢 Ukrainian troops will liberate the Kherson region by September, said Serhiy Khlan, adviser to the head of the Kherson OVA.
He added that strikes on the Antonovsky and Darevsky bridges, as well as the destruction of ammunition depots, command posts, equipment behind enemy lines, are preparatory work. Now the question is in more powerful and accurate artillery strikes along the front line and the clearing of the Russians from their positions.
👉 Note that this is the first specific date for the counter-offensive and its results that was announced by Ukrainian officials.
At the same time, the authorities talk a lot about the counteroffensive and the liberation of Kherson, creating in society a belief in the inevitability of this.
A similar message is addressed to the West. Since Ukraine is interested in showing a result in the near future that will convince the United States and Europe that the supplied weapons bring results, which means that even more is needed to turn the tide of the war. Successes in Kherson will also allow the Ukrainian authorities to "mute" the voices of those who speak of the need to resume negotiations with Russia and reach some kind of compromise.
Therefore, it will be difficult for the Ukrainian authorities to “cancel” the counteroffensive or postpone it to the distant future, because of the political reasons.
Another question is whether the West will provide the weapons necessary for this in the near future (primarily MLRS), or will it not want to increase the escalation in relations with the Russian Federation, which is quite possible if the Russians lose Kherson.
In the meantime, positional confrontation is observed on this sector of the front, accompanied by mutual powerful shelling. Both armies dig into the ground.
Judging by the stories of the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the situation there is not simple.
