💢 Russia claims 500 Ukrainian casualties during strikes on Nikolaev in single day, Ukraine
Russian strikes on a shipbuilding plant in the Ukrainian port of Nikolaev killed as many as 500 troops on Tuesday, the Russian defense ministry claimed during a daily press briefing on Wednesday.
👉 The troops belonged to the Ukrainian Army’s 59th Mechanized Brigade, the report said, who it’s believed were taking cover at the Okean Shipyard. The facility is located in the southern part of the Ukrainian city that stands on a major river some 60 kilometers inland from the Black Sea.
The ministry said the Russian Air Force had used precision weapons to strike the plant’s workshops, killing Ukrainian service members and destroying arms and military vehicles.
Ukrainian sources reported several Russian cruise-missile strikes targeting Nikolaev on Tuesday. These caused damage to port infrastructure, to industrial buildings and to the power grid, and destroyed some trucks, the Ukrainian military said.
In the briefing, Russia also claimed to have routed the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade. The report claimed that the Ukrainian unit lost over 60% of its strength during fighting for territory claimed by the Moscow-allied Lugansk People’s Republic. The brigade fled from its positions in violation of the order from its command to stand its ground, the Russian military said.
👉 Last week, the Russian military claimed to have killed scores of Ukrainian officers after striking a compound where a meeting of commanders of several Ukrainian units was taking place.

I just spent 2 hours with Roman Kosarev at Emergency Services in Kievskiy district of Donetsk. The Ukrainian shelling was intense and relentless.
The building has blown out windows, sand-bagged windows to attempt to protect the workers. Five days ago, the director's office was damaged by shrapnel from the shelling, thankfully he had just stepped out a minute before the blast.
One of their fire trucks was targeted yesterday, one of the emergency services workers injured and hospitalized in critical condition as a result. The men mentioned having seen a drone above them prior to the strike. The targeting was unquestionably deliberate and, thus, a war crime.
Like the medics of the Donbass, these emergency services workers are unsung heroes.

💢 “My time is running out, I’m being executed,” said British mercenary Aiden Aislin, who was sentenced to the highest measure. His family talked to the BBC about it.
The British mercenary sentenced to death by a DNR court for participating in hostilities has been told that the death sentence will be carried out.
Aislin told his family that the DPR said UK officials did not attempt to negotiate on his behalf. This was reported to the well-known British publication by the family of the mercenary.
During a telephone conversation with his family, Aislin said that "his time is running out."
“Aiden was very upset when he called his mother this morning. The fact is that in the DPR he was informed that no one from the UK had contacted, officials were not interested in his fate, and that he would be executed, ”said one of the relatives of the mercenary.
