It is unacceptable when in one country this is “collateral damage”, and in another - “murder of civilians”.

Serbian director Emir Kusturica in a conversation with RT about the double standards of Western media:

“In 1999, a process began, as a result of which NATO was at our side and even directly in our country: bombing and secession of part of our territory.

When they talked about the suffering of Kosovo, how they bombed our lands and killed our children, they called it "collateral damage." And when someone is killed in Ukraine, the same people, the same media shout: poor children, poor civilians.”

💢 And, since we're on the subject of the Balkans, Maria Zakharova had another excellent post in her TG today:

During a visit by history & geography connoisseur and, by misunderstanding, head of the British Foreign Office Liz Truss to the Balkans, she urged the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina not to trust Russia, which "has a pernicious influence" on the region. Experts are whispering: during the British-Bosnian negotiations, the topic of the country's entry into the "single European home" and integration into NATO was touched upon.

It is somehow strange to talk about NATO's destructive and unprincipled influence on the Balkans, but let me remind you: in 1999, the North Atlantic Alliance bombed Yugoslavia using depleted uranium.

Clever Liz Truss knows about the “Mongol and Tatar invasion of Ukraine”, but doesn’t she know about the bombing of Belgrade by NATO?

Then she will be interested in other episodes of the "influence of the West" on the Balkans. Shall we tell the erudite?

We could start from the 13th century and recall how the Western European knights captured and sacked Constantinople and slowed down the development of the Byzantine Empire for decades, as a result of which it later fell, ceasing to exist, but we will focus only on the British alone.

So, throughout the entire period of the dependent stay of the Slavs in the Balkans, London contributed to their subordinate position, in every possible way undermining the potential of the national liberation movements. Not Britain, but Russia helped to achieve the independence of Greece in the 19th century, and when it was beneficial for London, England directly entered into conflict against Russia and its Slavic allies in the Balkans, as was the case during the Crimean War and the so-called "Eastern Crisis" of the second half of the 1870s. The head of the Foreign Office, Lord Palmerston, openly admitted that it was in London's interests to patronize Russia's opponents and those who seek to liberate the Slavic peoples of the Balkans. It was Britain that refused in 1876 to support the so-called "Berlin Memorandum" of Russia and Europe in connection with the uprising of the Balkan nations (including Bosnia and Herzegovina), thereby reducing its significance and weight in international affairs.

For a long time, the Balkans were considered the "powder keg of Europe", and the aggravation of contradictions in the southeast of Europe was supported by Britain, since it primarily damaged both the interests of the Austrian-German coalition and Russia in the region. As a result, this led to the First World War.

Already in the twentieth century, in the first period of World War II, the Yugoslav government begged the British to help the Slavs in the face of the Third Reich, to save the country from occupation and ruin, but the British ignored the call of the leadership of the South Slavic state. Moreover, they criminally took advantage of it, believing that by pulling back the forces of the Germans to Yugoslavia, Berlin would make it easier for Britain to wage its war in Europe. As a result, as we know very well, Yugoslavia was thrown to the mercy of German Nazis and Italian fascists and, with the assistance of the Red Army, was liberated by partisans during the most difficult war of independence.

In the second half of the 20th century, Britain established normal relations with socialist Yugoslavia solely because of Belgrade's disagreement with Moscow's policies, and even in these conditions of "forced friendship", as recently declassified telegrams of the Foreign Office show , was interested in ethnic instability in the region, including Kosovo.
(continued from above)

Well, then the 90s began, and the content and meaning of "British (and NATO) influence" on the Balkans became obvious to the whole world. As part of the Western coalition, London patronized the organ trade run by Kosovo militants and the smuggling of everything in the region, including weapons.

If there was a force in the history of the Balkans more destructive than gunpowder and shells, and more deadly than the plague, then it spoke in pure English.

💢 Don't stand in the line of fire..

Foreign and Ukrainian journalists rubbed too close to the Ukrainian military and caught the arrival of artillery. At least one Ukrainian soldier and one journalist were injured.

⭕️ In Bulgaria, Ukrainian refugees began to be massively evicted from hotels

The reason for this decision is that the country's authorities have reduced the financing of refugee accommodation. In addition, the season begins in resort towns and hotels want to earn money.

💢 Turkey refuted Kiev's claims about Russia and accuse Ukraine of mining their own ports, which is why ships with grain are now blocked

"Ukrainian mines prevent the withdrawal of ships with grain from Ukrainian ports, a search is underway for a mechanism to solve the problem," Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu said.

🔥A drone filmed from the whole story of a Ukrainian POW who was left wounded by his own.

The man is from Kemerovo. Has been living in Ukraine for a long time. He was taken in the third wave of mobilization on March 13, 2022. He went to fight, otherwise prison.

Appointed commander of a tank platoon. Fired 8 shots from the tank. Was hit in the war zone. He was taken and rescued.

He neither made this war, nor had an interest in dying for Ukraine. Having family, he must have taken his chances to avoid prison. Few knew how gruesome and one sided this would be.

🇺🇦 In mid-May, Ukrainian channels distributed a video showing Ukrainians going to the Russian border and setting up a border post.

There were suggestions that the video was staged. And today, this was officially confirmed by the ex-head of the Kharkiv regional department of the SBU, who was recently fired after a conflict with Zelensky.

According to him, personnel of the 227th battalion of the 127th brigade were involved in filming the “performance for the president”. The recording did not go according to plan: a battle began, during which the Ukrainian fighters had to "shamefully throw" the installed pole and run away. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to 4 people killed and 3 wounded.

What happened is very consistent with the logic of the actions of the Kyiv authorities: as we have already written more than once, Zelensky and his team are trying to replace real major successes with high-profile media victories. Even if you have to sacrifice an entire squad to create a propaganda video.
