UNITED NATIONS, April 20. /TASS/. Calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine are aimed at giving Kiev military units a chance to rest and regroup, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky told the UN Security Council session on Ukraine on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Russian diplomat said that the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, "instead of monitoring and recording all ceasefire violations, actually spied in Kiev’s interests."
The SMM also "shared feed from surveillance cameras with Ukrainians so they could do fire adjustment," he said.
Polyansky also noted episodes in which Ukrainian armed formations used OSCE armored vehicles.

"Such exposures undermine all trust in international organizations, where majority of officials come from Western states. Against this backdrop, calls to peace and ceasefire are perceived as two-tongued and disingenuous," the Russian deputy envoy continued.
"In practical terms, they only mean willingness to give a short break to Ukrainian nationalists and radicals, carve some time for them to re-group, receive new shipments of drones, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), and in the meantime carry out more infernal provocations, launch more fakes about the actions of Russian soldiers," he added.

💢More than 120 civilian hostages freed from Azovstal⚡️

Azov fighters had been eliminated from the upper levels and perimeter. This allowed Mariupol residents, who became hostages of the Nazi battalion to get out of the basements of houses that stand directly in front the main Azovstal checkpoint.

This appears to confirm other eyewitness accounts previously that Azov were shooting civilians that left their homes.

Kiev is betraying its own fighters by not giving the order to lay down arms, Moscow says

Russia’s Defense Ministry has extended the offer to surrender for the remaining Ukrainian forces holed up at the Azovstal steel plant in the Black Sea port city of Mariupol after they refused to leave through a humanitarian corridor on Tuesday.

Those present at the location may still exit the facility from 14:00 Moscow time on Wednesday without any arms or ammunition on them, officials said in a statement late on Tuesday.

“The Russian leadership guarantees the preservation of life, complete safety and provision of qualified medical assistance to all those who lay down their arms,” it said.

The country has proven its humane attitude towards surrendering Ukrainian troops on numerous occasions during the conflict and this time the term of the Geneva Convention on POWs will also be fulfilled, the ministry insisted.

To be able to leave the steel plant, the Ukrainian commanders inside were told to establish uninterrupted radio contact with the Russian forces, cease all hostilities and raise white flags along the perimeter of Azovstal.

The offer to lay down arms given to “militants of nationalist battalions and foreign mercenaries” is being repeated despite “the absence of any elementary steps from the Kiev authorities aimed at saving their country’s servicemen,” the statement read.

Members of the notorious Azov battalion were already given a chance to surrender on Sunday and Tuesday but didn’t take up the offer on both occasions.

Intercepted communications from Azovstal, suggest that the Ukrainian commanders “realize the hopelessness of their situation and are ready to lay down their arms, but only on the appropriate command (order) from Kiev,” which Ukrainian authorities are refusing to give, the ministry insisted. Surrendering without government approval may see them court martialed, with sentences of capital punishment possible, it added.

Moscow described such actions by Kiev as a “betrayal of the Ukrainian servicemen and members of nationalist battalions,” and again urged it to “show common sense, give appropriate instructions to the fighters to stop senseless resistance and exit through humanitarian corridors.”

If such an order isn’t made by the Ukrainian leadership once again, the commanders or ordinary servicemen should themselves make the decision to lay down their arms to survive, it added.

The strategic city of Mariupol has seen the heaviest fighting during the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, suffering immense destruction. It’s now almost entirely controlled by Russian forces, with Azovstal remaining the last pocket of Ukrainian resistance. (- RT writes)

White House Admits It Has “Almost Zero” Ability to Track Weapons It Sends to Ukraine

A US official said on Tuesday (April 19) that the White House has “almost zero” ability to track the weapons it is sending to Ukraine. So far, President Joe Biden has approved over $3 billion in arms shipments to Kiev.

Speaking with CNN about the weapons, one source said, “we have fidelity for a short time, but when it enters the fog of war, we have almost zero. It drops into a big black hole, and you have almost no sense of it at all after a short period of time.”

The source said the US lacked personnel “on the ground,” making it nearly impossible to track the movement of weapons. Another source told CNN Ukraine was incentivized to lie to get access to more weapons, saying: “It’s a war—every statement is an information operation, every interview. Every Zelensky appearance broadcast is an information operation.”

The US infamously armed the resistance to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, only to have many of those weapons fall into the hand of the Islamic State and other al-Qaeda affiliate groups. The consequence was an Islamic Caliphate that took over large swaths of Iraq and Syria.

Free speech isn’t a one way street. To remain silent in the murder of Gonzo Lira is to be complicit in his death, and the deaths of all journalists who pursue the truth, even if it runs counter to the mainstream narrative. Critical thinking should not be a death sentence. Unfortunately for Gonzo Lira, it seems it was.
