Russian MoD Update: Russian military creates safe passage for residents to leave Kiev

▪️Gangs of looters, armed by authorities, are rampaging through Ukraine’s capital, while Kiev is using residents of the city as a human shield. All civilians can freely leave along the Kiev-Vasilkov highway, which is open and safe

▪️Since beginning of the operation,1,114 objects of Ukrainian military infrastructure have been hit, inc: 31 control points and a communication center

▪️Russian armed forces have taken control of Berdyansk, Energodar, and territory around Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

▪️On Sunday 314 tanks and other armored vehicles, 57 multiple rocket launchers, 121 field artillery and mortars, 274 units of special military vehicles destroyed, while Russian airforce destroyed, among others, eight guidance stations, four combat aircraft on the ground and one in the air

▪️LPR forces established control over Hvorostyanka, Sukhanovka and Artyom, while DPR forces advanced 19 km

Brazil to remain neutral in Russia-Ukraine conflict - Bolsonaro

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has refused to pick sides in the current conflict between Ukraine and Russia, but insists his country will help with “whatever is possible”.

Although he insisted he wouldn’t take sides between the “practically brother nations” in Sunday’s press conference, he noted “a big part of Ukraine’s population speak Russian”, and said Ukrainians had “placed the hope of their nation in the hands of a comedian.”

Brazil also voted for the UN Security Council resolution condemning Russia over Ukraine.

❗Zelensky appeals to EU for immediate membership

President Vladimir Zelensky has appealed to the EU for immediate membership under a new special procedure in a speech made this morning, ahead of talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations.

He also confirmed reports that prisoners with real military experience had been released to join Ukrainian forces.

US governors order BAN on Russian-made vodka

Utah Governor Spencer Cox has ordered state-run retail stores to take Russian vodka off the shelves, joining New hampshire, Ohio and Pennsylvania in the largely symbolic gesture.

“We will do our part to push back on the Russian invaders and stand with our brothers and sisters in Ukraine,” Cox said - despite only 1.2% of vodka imports reportedly even coming from Russia.

Of 2021’s $1.4bn of vodka imports to the US, only $18.5mn came from Russia - compared to $660mn from France, for example.

Stocks booming in Chinese SWIFT alternative

Following the expulsion of some Russian banks from the international SWIFT bank transfer system, stocks tied to China’s alternative Cross-border Inter-bank Payments System are flying.

Stocks in Orient Group and HyUnion Holding leapt up 105, while Infosec Technologies and Forms Syntron Information surged a massive 20% on Monday.

One analyst even predicted this could mark “the end of USD hegemony”.

Gazprom announces major gas pipeline deal with China

Gazprom announced a deal Monday to develop its Siberia-2 natural gas pipeline to China via Mongolia to supply 50 billion cubic meters a year to Beijing.

CEO Alexey Miller penned a deal with Mongolia Deputy PM Sainbuyangiin Amarsaikhan to carry out design and survey work for the pipeline’s construction.
