America is going (Q)uantum

President Trump signs two quantum Executive Orders:

1. Protecting U.S. quantum research from foreign threats: Strengthens counterintelligence efforts (FBI and intelligence community) against espionage (e.g., by China). It also directs the Departments of Defense and Energy to build and host a quantum computer for scientific discovery and tasks Commerce with plans to expand federal investments in quantum companies.

2. Accelerating post-quantum cryptography (PQC) migration: Bolsters federal efforts to transition to quantum-resistant encryption standards to mitigate risks from future “Q-day” when powerful quantum computers could break current public-key cryptography.
