A few people asked me how I think about meme markets. Here's the actual playbook.

Memecoins are all about attention. The more attention something gets, the better it does. Most people don't get this until it's already happened.

The whole playbook is betting on whether something will get attention at a point in the future. If it works, you make huge money. If it doesn't, you lose some.

If something has even a 20% chance of going viral and the upside is 10-50-100x while my max downside is just my entry size, the skew is mispriced in my favour. That's the mental math. Bet heavy when the probability of attention is much higher than what the market is pricing in.

Attention creates price. Price creates more attention. That feedback loop is what makes meme markets so violent on the upside and brutal on the downside.

TBH that's how the whole market works. A lot of traders don't actually trade stocks. They don't trade tickers or financials. Your job as a good trader is to find what could get max attention in the next few days/weeks/months or even a few years, and buy into that.

The only difference between memes and stocks is the parameters for success. Memes are about how viral it will get and the emotional appeal. Stocks are about financials, future revenues, promises, not just current growth.

Multicoin framed it best in their "Building The Attention Economy" piece. They said the price of any stock has two components, DCF value (intrinsic) and memetic value, and historically most stocks didn't have significant memetic value. Memes are just stocks where the memetic value is 100% of the price.

A lot of people think memecoin traders are retards. They fail to understand the same mfers are insanely good at spotting shit early. They understand the skew between something with low attention now and what becomes insanely viral later.

Being an elite trader, investor or founder is all about spotting stuff when no one is looking, not when it becomes a consensus trade.

Same mental muscle as the chads who bought NVDA in 2022 before the AI rally, or joined OpenAI and Anthropic before ChatGPT existed. They walked away with 10M, 100M or billions. Humans get paid for spotting trends early and going all in. Memecoin traders just do it on a faster clock.

Doesn't matter if you trade memes, perps, prediction markets or stocks. You're always betting on attention. Just that memes are the purest and rawest version of that game.
