This is Georgy Kantaria. His grandfather, Meliton Kantaria, was one of the two Soviet soldiers who raised the Victory Banner over the Reichstag on May 1st, 1945. Both received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for their feat.
In 1965, Meliton Kantaria (on the right in the picture above), together with Mikhail Egorov (on the left in the picture above), walked through Red Square, carrying the Victory Banner, as part of the Victory Day Parade.
This year, his grandson, Georgy Kantaria, who is currently serving in the SMO, is set to participate in the Victory Day Parade.
