📊 The latest release is disk hungry. Monitor your available storage to avoid getting jailed.

Hello Validators,

elrond-go v1.3.13.0 utilizes more disk. This is due to an important change to how trie data is written to disk, which is now done in the same way that transactions, blocks, etc are written to disk.

Validator nodes that have been assigned less storage than the recommended 200 GB per node might see their disks rapidly filling up. When the available space goes to 0, the node will fall out of sync and get jailed.

A future release will deal with trie pruning and bring further optimizations to how disk space is used.

• check your servers and make sure enough storage is provisioned, according to the official recommendations: https://docs.elrond.com/validators/system-requirements/

• make sure you use monitoring, that your alerts are properly configured and working, and that you have a contingency plan for provisioning more storage. Check out these guides:

• Prometheus by Easy2Stake
• Zabbix by Palmtree Network & Arcstake

Last resort: delete old databases, such as epochs 0 through 600.

cd elrond-nodes/node-x/db/1 - replace x with 0, 1 etc
rm -rf Epoch_y* - replace y with 2, 3, etc

Again, deleting data is the last resort and should be used with the utmost care.

Some validators have already had issues with the /tmp directory increasing in size.

If your disk usage is high, you can check the size of the /tmp directory by running

sudo du -sh /tmp

If there are directories with a naming pattern like trieSyncStorage* they can be safely removed in order to free up some space.
