Internet-scale Interoperability With Band Oracle Feeds

The Internet of Money will interconnect multiple blockchains and centralized systems. And it will be trustless, thanks in large part to decentralized Oracles - services that verify and send data to a blockchain from any off-chain source.

The first Band Protocol smart contract is now available on the public devnet, bringing $EGLD, $BAND, $BTC, and $ETH token prices to be further used in Elrond DeFi scenarios, as well as 200+ data feeds that include more crypto assets, commodities and FOREX rates.

Band’s decentralized oracles are checking the accuracy of the data and then sending it to the Elrond Network. They will be deployed to our mainnet soon after January 26, when the Smart Contracts deployment feature will be activated.

Elrond and Binance Smart Chain integration to enable strategic DeFi interoperability

The opportunity of an interoperable DeFi ecosystem is far greater than the sum of separate individual parts. Specific opportunities enabled by the unique capabilities of distinct blockchains are amplified by the seamless flow of value and global user accessibility.

We are therefore excited to announce that the Elrond Network will be interoperable with the Binance Smart Chain. This will allow the free flow of assets issued on one chain to participate in DeFi opportunities on the other chain.

“The integration with the Binance Smart Chain is meant to significantly increase exposure, accessibility, and value flow between the networks, enabling many creative opportunities for the DeFi ecosystem.” said Beniamin Mincu, Elrond CEO.

The first step of the integration has already been made. eGold can be withdrawn from the Binance CEX as BEP20 EGLD tokens on the Binance Smart Chain. The ongoing collaboration is now focused on enabling the transfer of tokens in a direct manner via a bridge.

Introducing the first eGold cross-chain DeFi experiment with PancakeSwap

DeFi experimentation has been happening more than just around the economical and technological aspects of financial instruments. By employing gamification and relatable symbols such as popular foods, DeFi projects are able to engage with a new audience.

This grows the scope of DeFi beyond traditional finance to include new demographics and capital that will significantly expand the addressable market size.

We are therefore excited about our first such experiment that will be conducted on the Binance Smart Chain together with PancakeSwap!

The most significant Elrond Network mainnet upgrade has completed successfully. All deployed features have been activated and soon everyone will be able to get @MaiarApp.

• Smart Contracts can now be deployed on the Elrond mainnet. Developers can write them using familiar tools and programming languages. They are inexpensive to deploy and use, and offer perhaps the best experience in the space.

• Meta-transactions are now possible. A relayer can package a request as a blockchain transaction and send it on behalf of the requester. Users will be able to use blockchain without owning any crypto, pay for fees with tokens, etc, resulting in a much improved UX.

• The new Arwen VM has significant performance improvements and an optimized gas model for most opcodes, resulting in more efficient gas usage and further decresed transaction costs.

• The upgrade was completed in 3 consecutive iterations, during which our mainnet validators and extended validators community was extremely reponsive and supportive.

Increasing Interoperable Liquidity Flows: Elrond’s eGold Now Available On OpenOcean

OpenOcean is building a platform that enables tokens to be traded against liquidity on multiple chains and exchanges.

The platform connects to centralized exchanges like Binance and Coinbase, and to DEXs on Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain such as Uniswap or PancakeSwap.

It enables traders to find the best price and lowest slippage on all available CEXs and DEXs, and even arbitrage between them.
