For instance, volunteering at shelters or environmental initiatives can instill empathy and teamwork, qualities that are invaluable in any career. Secondly, engaging in such activities can enhance students’ soft skills, such as communication and leadership, making them more attractive to employers. Many recruiters prioritize candidates with real-world experience, and voluntary work can serve as evidence of initiative and commitment. Therefore, participation in community service can provide students with both personal growth and career advantages.

However, making community service compulsory may have unintended consequences. One major concern is that forcing students to participate in unpaid work could lead to resentment and lack of genuine engagement.
